June Hits and Misses

Nope that wasn't me lol I did try a couple of samples last night tho. I used the grapeseed detangler as a leave in and twisted with the avocado butter. So far I like them both.

Neutral: Ordered some Mozeke samples. These are really samples in these little plastic squeeze tube thingies...why not put it in a jar? seriously? and taking a week just to ship the product out and don't even email me a confirmation. So far I opened up the coconut milk

Neutral/Hit: Coconut Kokum Hair Milk-This smells sooo good. Like Starburst candy, pink grapefuilt, juices and berries fragrance....yumm, you almost want to taste it! Doesn't smell anything like coconut. LOL. Tried some on a dry parched dry piece of hair and twisted a section with it, there was moisture but when it dried it made it kinda hard. Unraveled twist and there was mucho definition, and a lot of hold. Still need to try it again. I'll be pissed if I end up liking this product.

You know when I twist with the kokum I seal it with a butter this way it'll hold the moisture in and give it some shine! I use her mango butter blend and that joint smells soooo good like pink sugar!

Like two years ago, she used to offer 4oz samples in a jar. Nice sizes. I don't know why she stopped.

Beautiful Textures Edges to Ends Silkner-miss-Saw this at my local BSS. Couldn't read the label for the ingredients because of the gigantic bar code on the back of the box. Needless to say, I was surprised to find that this had mineral oil as an ingredient. I tried it and it left my forehead kinda greasy. My edges were laid down and soft, but the greasiness factor is a no-go.

ETA: glycerin overload.

Pre-lim Hit:
Aunt Jackie's Knot on my watch. Nice slip. Detangles well on 3 day old hair. Makes my styling products work better and my hair hold more moisture longer. I think I may love this product. Need to test it on freshly washed hair. The smell is strong but fades quickly.

Trying to get my money back from Ulta.com for a return. First of all there's no telephone number on the site. I sent 4 e-mails to them with no reply. I finally did a google and found the customer service number. I got some BS story that they don't see my return...it takes awhile for the warehouse to open return packages. Blah, blah, blah. They've got 1 more week and then I'm going to file a paypal claim. Don't order from Ulta.com unless you are sure you will LOVE the product.

Misses ( anything I bought with Shea butter )

- Jessicurl Aloeba condish
- GF Triple Nutrition ( returned)

I found these to be moisturizing btw but shea butter leaves my hair very stiff and dull in a short period of time. No bueno.

Also in the miss category:
- Mop Top leave in ( too much protein. Caused major knots. Got damn!!)

Curly Kinks CurlyCue Renew condish - very nice!
Darcy Botanicals vanilla delight detangling milk - very slippery and moisturizing!
4a/b Texlaxed hair w/ highlights. Medium texture & high porosity.

HG's: CJ Daily Fix, Bobeam Cheris Hibiscus shampoo bar, KC Spiral Spritz, Knot Today, CJ Rehab, KBB LL Hair Mask, Cassia, KCCC, oil blend of Avocado, Camellia, Jojoba, & Meadowfoam oils

Cush Cosmetics Curl gel: When my hair was wet it looked nice and shiny. But when it dried, my hair was rough, tangly, dry, dry and had shrunk up 100%. Glad I only got a sample. I think I may have to use over a heavier leave-in.
Major hit: I finally clip my ends. Also using QB coco tree detangling ghee to moisturize my hair.

Not sure: the after effects of bentonite clay. My hair still feels very clean, but my ends were slightly stripped. I hope that rhassoul clay will have a better result.
Preliminary Hit: Darcys Botanicals Cocoa Bean Whip
I bought this a cpl mos ago, tried it once and determined it was decent then put it away until I used up some older products. Pulled this back out a cpl weeks ago because I got ADD w what ive been using and have been using it as my leave in since.
I think I love it. Its consistent, & despite the wax in it it doesnt build up. It gives me good long lasting moisture without being heavy. Its thick but still light somehow and absorbs easily aaaand I like that its unscented. I am supposed to be using up other things right now but I keep reaching for it which for me is usually a sign that something is great. Gotta see if it works this good in diff weather.

Hit: Shea Moisture Restorative conditioner, havent tried this for a cpl years and theyve changed the formula since. It used to be thick and buttery/oily now its creamier and slippery. Either way it works great as a rinse out, really makes my hair feel moisturized and conditioned & is slippery enough to kind of cowash with and clean my scalp. Def repurchase.
Aunt Jackie's Curl La La. I love this stuff. Great slip. Doesn't dry hard and stiff. Soft natural looking curls. Smells nice. A keeper and it's cheap and on the ground. Who knew?

Aunt Jackie's In Control conditioner: My hair felt rubbery after using it but in all fairness it could have been the new Tresemme formula, (which my hair didn't like). I'll see how it goes after using their shampoo.
Possible Hit: Hawaiian Silky Gel Activator mixed with oil...I may have to tweak it, but I'm hoping to be able to moisturize and seal in one step, and this hateful humidity has been playing nicely with it...I threw it in today as I was running late, but I'll try to give it some more time tomorrow.
Hit: adding AVG to my creamy stylers for twist outs & braid outs. Added moisture, smooth hair & soft hold.
Under Construction

- Alba Botanica Leave-In Conditioner + SM CES + DIY Flax Seed Gel w/ Marshmallow Root
I used this combo for a braid-out (10 braids w/ twisted ends). It gave me awesome stretch, smoothness, softness and great definition. I should have taken a pic. I'll def have to re-visit this combo.

- Conair Hair Pins
They're soooo much easier on the hair than bobby pins -- less breakage and easier to put in, re-adjest and take out. I'll use them over bobby pins for cinnabuns and other updos from now.

Major miss:
Carol's Daughter cleansing conditioner. Got this as a free sample at Sephora. It is a horrible product. Made my hair feel like brillo.

Carol's Daughter Marguerite's magic hair cream. Not bad. Coupled with the CD vanilla hair detangler, this made my hair pretty soft.
Maybe a hit: Shea moisture curl and shine conditioner. I used it as a leave in and my hair was soft and silky. Might have to give some other Shea moisture a try.

I'm also in love with her Hempseed Buttercream.
CD Black Vanilla smoothie. No slip, no moisture, no nothing. Glad it was only a sample.

Aunt Jackie's In Control dc. Makes my hair feel like rubber.

Tresemme naturals new formula. They changed the formula and now it doesn't have enough slip and moisture for me. Makes my hair feel like sandpaper. I'm going to hunt down the old formula and buy as many bottles as I can. Once they're finished I'm done with this product.
Major Hit: I mixed rhassoul clay with water, aloe vera juice, honey, olive oil, hibiscus powder, nettle, and a drop of tea tree oil. My hair feel fabulous and soft. This is a definite keeper.
Fronomenal likes this.
Hit: finally being able to do a wash n go using smooth and shine activator gel. Yay! So far, so good but it seems like that's my new boo right there.
