4a/b curls not clumping?

At the moment I am transitioning, so maybe that has something to do with it? But whenever I wet my hair or put product in it, it clumps but the curls are extremely thin, wiry and translucent. Does anyone else have this problem?
I do. But I believe that tight curls/coils are supposed to only form smaller clumps rather than bigger ones, because of how tightly coiled they are. My clumps become fuller after I SOTC though. They mainly appear wiry after gel application, and after they dry up but before SOTCing.

Something else to consider is the level of moisture. If hair is not well moisturized, it may not clump well, or at all. The products used affect this as well. You should find the products that produce full clumpage on your hair. If you are transitioning, the properties of your virgin hair may differ from those of the relaxed/damaged parts, so the products that work for it may be different as well.

In addition to what Alma said, your gel will determine the clump size as well. I get small clumps with as I am's gels but I get bigger clumps with Wetline Xtreme.

Hi Glamourstruckk!

I have been considering getting the wetline xtreme gel. I'm currently using Ecostyler Olive Oil. Have you ever used that before? How does wetline compare to it? Also what type of wetline are you using? There are so many to choose from and I got sort of confused lol. TIA!

Hey!
Wetline has less ingredients than Eco and is also protein free. As far as the hold they are pretty similar. It's like Eco with better ingredients! I don't know of different Wetlines. There is only one kind available at Sally beauty and it comes in a tube or tub.

I was hoping that it would have better hold, and be more suitable for wet weather.

Oh I see. So you prefer Aloe in your gel.. Btw does aloe act as a humectant in humid weather?

Most sites refer to it as a film forming humectant. I like that it adjusts PH. My hair is more smooth when I use products with ingredients like aloe. I live in Florida and find that with enough gel, my hair can last the humid summer months.
