New Year, New Thread...Come on 2013:-)!
So this year was a bust because I finally realized I was focusing on the wrong thing...weight loss only instead of my total health (mental, spiritual, emotional and physical). So after reading one of my favorite blogs that suggested making a 'dream/goal jar' and then making a conscious effort to do at least one step towards these goals each day I figured this was a better way to go about my weight loss journey...I mean if you feel good you want to look good right:icon_smile:.

So although my main goal is to finally shed these pounds, I will do so by making healthier choices in my diet, eliminating as much stress as possible from my life, engaging in activities that I enjoy and making a conscious effort to enjoy everyday like tomorrow's never promised because it's not. I will post my daily efforts to make 2013 the best year ever and anyone who wants to join me for support or to post their own efforts is more than welcome!

So...starting today instead of January 1 I have consumed more water than I have in months, I have made a conscious and actual effort and have eliminated the people from my life who are not supportive and bring me down and I am making a conscious effort to focus on all the wonderful things the new year has to offer my child and I!

So yesterday I continued drinking TONS of water (not literally but you get my point:toothy4:), I reviewed my licensing exam materials, I had a healthy meal, I helped my child with his school work and I helped my mom create a dream/goal jar. I also had multiple conversations with people who I felt were not beneficial for me (emotionally, spiritually, mentally)...some were fine with the convo and agreed to make changes (of course time will tell) while other's were upset...either way it was something I had to do for me and I feel better for it.

Today I took my vitamins as usual and have my water sitting beside me, I did more school work with my child to help him stay on track since he's been out of school due to illness, I helped someone else prepare for their exams, and I'm about to study some more for mine. All in all not so bad for it only being 2pm :thumbleft:.

Today started like any normal day, vitamins down, water bottle by my side, happy thoughts in my mind and began filling out licensure information...however by this afternoon the anxiety increased when I found out I had to cancel something that has been in the works for over a year I disappointed...of course but that's life I guess and when one door closes another I'm waiting on my open door;-).

Life's been busy but I'm back:-)
My life has been insanely busy since December (and still is) but I've been making a lot of progress. I was accepted into a psychology doctoral program, have been preparing for state/national counseling licensure, just got a new job and my child's medical situation is slowly but surely improving. Things are still hectic at times but it's all about progress so I'm not complaining:flower:. I also recently decided (yesterday) that I'm going to try a flexitarian diet (mostly vegetarian with meat once or twice a week) and am excited about that along with continuing my exercise routine. So I will be consistently updating how I am doing in these areas. Hope all is well with everyone!

Today was a good day for me...I continued studying for my licensing exam, took my vitamins and am getting ready for church this afternoon. I however FINALLY came to the realization that you can not help those who do not want to help themselves. I of course knew this already, however it is sometimes more difficult to accept when the person is close to you. I have however gotten to the point that I acknowledge that I will do all that I can to help, but not to the extent that my life I will keep moving on and wishing for the best. Hope all is well with everyone else and I'm going to try to get outside and jog today once the temperature drops!

So I officially started my flexitarian lifestyle change today:-). Went to the grocery store and got a WEEK'S worth of food for exactly $50.01, which I have never been able to do planning a week's worth of 'meat' meals. I can live on a $200 a month food budget, especially knowing that it's beneficial for my health and my body and I'll lose weight as well:-)
