I’ve been going ‘pooless for a few months now and I think I need to clarify.
Does anyone have any good suggestions?
I’m not too keen on the ACV because I’m afraid it may dry my 3c hair out.
Also, if you do clarify, how often do you do it?

Try Nature’s Gate Rainwater Clarifying Shampoo. I use that and it never dries my hair out and is very gentle. It has a mild surfectant in it so it’s not harsh or drying at all.

I use the Suave Clarifying shampoo maybe once a week or once every other week. Just depends “when I feel the need”. I condition afterwards and haven’t noticed any drying effects.

I may have to look into the Nature’s Gate product tho as I like their Green Tea Conditioner and other products. I didn’t know they made a clarifying shampoo.

I always loved Cream of nature shampoo, but it stopped working for me. You might want to try it, though, it’s quite cheap.

Jessicurls [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Jessicurl-Hair-Cleansing-Cream-p-103.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=jessicurl-hair-cleansing-cream]Hair Cleansing Cream[/buylink] is really nice too.

I’m having great results with Curl Junkie’s Hibiscus Bliss shampoo. It’s really creamy, smells great and doesn’t dry my hair out. I was a big no-pooer before, but I like this shampoo so much, I use it weekly.

Oh and: I hear Curls Cleansing Cream is really good. haven’t tried it, but it sounds yummy!

i think using suave humectant as a co-wash and leave in may be adding to build up. it contains dimethiconol which over time builds on the hair shaft. choosing a non-silicone conditioner will give you better results w CG. opt for suave naturals or V05.

ACV is only drying w improper dilution. curlies from 3a-4b have great luck w acv rinses…but keep in mind they don’t clarify, they only restore the hair’s natural ph balance.

finally, any shampoo w sulfates can serve as a clarifying shampoo for “no-pooers.” if you dont want to use a sulfate cleanser, elucence is a great choice. i clarify as often as needed…usually twice a month. hth

Thanks for all of your replies.
I do think that lately, my hair hasn’t been as nice to me as it was when I first started the CG routine, so I think it’s probably time for a clarifier.

I’ve bought some new VO5 cond. to experiment with.
    Hopefully they’ll help a bit.
The Elucence ‘poo seems a little pricey to me.
Have you ever tried the Neutrogena kind?

The neutrogena clarifying shampoo might be the harshest thing I have ever put on my hair. Make no mistake, it will remove every trace of silicone and anything else that is clinging to your hair. Every trace.

DO A DT AFTERWARDS!!!! FOR 3 DAYS STRAIGHT!

With ACV, do a good condition afterwards.

Also if you have scalp dammage from relaxers or itchy scalp that you scratch a lot, it might sting/burn. It hurts my head a lot, I can’t use it.

It’s not the Oasis line (I seem to remember someone mentioning that has cones in it).
I just washed my hair and my scalp feels much better. I think I can only go ‘pooless for a few weeks, tops.
    Thanks for the heads up!

I had an old bottle of Tresemme in my closet (no cones that I could see) and it seemed to have done the trick.
    My scalp isn’t itchy anymore…
    Thanks![/quote]
