Today was the first time I actuallly detangled with sopping wet hair and conditioner section by section. It took forever: 50-60 minutes. Is that typical? I usually just wash and condition. When I start to twist, I’ll detangle each piece of hair that I’m about to twist. It does seem that less hair came out but it took so long.

How long is your hair?……what is your daily style?
My hair is past my shoulders straightened I’m guessing (haven’t stragintened in a year)..but it’s very thick…it only takes me about 2 minutes to detangle if that…

I found that washing hair in the shower helps ALOT! The shower itself is great then when I get out I put in the conditioner & comb w/ my jilbere shower comb…. let the condtitioner do its thang all day then hop in the shower and rinse ……voila..detangled, kinky curly hair

When I twist my hair I never part or detangle, I only part for flat twists….and my hair is usually not that tangled….

Did you start detangling immediately after applying the conditioner, or did you let it sit while you showered for a few minutes? I always let it sit on my hair for a few minutes to let the heat from the shower loosen any stubborn tangles/let the conditioner do its’ job, and then detangle. I also lightly detangle before thoroughly wetting/saturating my hair with conditioner by running water over my hair and combing alittle; just enough to get rid of the easy tangles. Nothing too thorough. Sometimes when you comb with completely saturated hair, you can loose more hair, so doing this helps in minimizing hair loss. Well, for me it helps. 🙂
