i’m curious to know a few things about your leavein habits!

Hair type and length:

What kind of conditioner do you use?

How much conditioner do you leave in?

How does this help your hair? (ie gives more curl, loosens curl, shine, softens)

What is your application process for the conditioner?(ie quick rinse? rinse
entirely, then reapply? towl dry first, then apply?)

If you don’t leave it in, or leave in less, why?

thanks in advance!!! 😉

okay…i’ll go first!

Hair type and length: 3a, chin-mid neck when dry

What kind of conditioner do you use? Elucence

How much conditioner do you leave in? pea size

How does this help your hair? (ie gives more curl, loosens curl, shine, softens)
i think it helps with the clumping, and keeping the dry spot from getting bad in the back

What is your application process for the conditioner?(ie quick rinse? rinse
entirely, then reapply? towl dry first, then apply?)
rinse out regular conditioner, squeeze as much moisture out as i can by hand, then i scrunch in the pea size dot focusing on the ends

If you don’t leave it in, or leave in less, why?
i always thought if i left in more, it’d pull out my curls….
i’m thinking otherwise now…thus the poll!

Hair type and length:

Chin length, coarse, thick 2C/3A

What kind of conditioner do you use?

BWC Moisture Plus

How much conditioner do you leave in?

A little dab’ll do ya when I feel like it.

How does this help your hair? (ie gives more curl, loosens curl, shine, softens)

Keeps it moisturized, eliminates gel crunch.

What is your application process for the conditioner?(ie quick rinse? rinse
entirely, then reapply? towl dry first, then apply?)

Sometimes it’s just a less thorough rinse, sometimes it’s a full rinse then scrunch-smooth a tiny dab back into sopping wet hair, focusing on the ends.

If you don’t leave it in, or leave in less, why?

I never could leave any in when I was full CG, my hair just didn’t need that much moisture, and it added to my overconditioning problem. Now that I’m ‘pooing I’m experimenting with it to keep the moisture levels right. I can only leave in (or even use) a condish that is not too rich with oils and the like. I just don’t need that much moisture, my hair isn’t all that dry.

ETA because Pixie’s response made me think of it: The other reason I’ve never really been into leave-ins, or needed them is because I really dig creams over gels, generally. If I’m using primarily a gel, it has to be with some leave-in. Much less or no leave in if I’m primarily styling with a moisturizing cream.

Hair type and length: 3A mostly, *almost* BSL, very thick

What kind of conditioner do you use? mostly elucence now, one condition in the past (love and miss it), occasional use of others such as suave milk&honey, kms curl hydrator, or devared sacred love one condition

How much conditioner do you leave in? almost all

How does this help your hair? (ie gives more curl, loosens curl, shine, softens) keeps it moisturized… my hair feels dry and icky with no conditioner left in

What is your application process for the conditioner?(ie quick rinse? rinse
entirely, then reapply? towl dry first, then apply?) quick rinse upside down, sometimes scrunch in a tiny more after the quick rinse

If you don’t leave it in, or leave in less, why? the only time i leave in less/no conditioner is when i’m using a really moisturizing styling product (like boots). then i rinse out more of the conditioner, maybe like 50-75%. but this is pretty rare, i almost always use gels on wet hair

Hair type and length: 3B and shoulder blade length (BSL my goal)

What kind of conditioner do you use: One Condition although I just received a sample of Elucence and am verrrrrry intrigued.

How much conditioner do you leave in? I’d say most…80%.

How does this help your hair? (ie gives more curl, loosens curl, shine, softens) I think it helps with clumping and somehow gives more hold longer throughout the day than products alone.

What is your application process for the conditioner?(ie quick rinse? rinse
entirely, then reapply? towl dry first, then apply?) Until recently, I’ve been rinsing all and putting some back in but now I just give a quick rinse and leave most in.

I used to feel leaving in cond. felt too producty but I think I used too much. Now I get nervous that I’ll rinse too much out!

Hair type and length: 3B/A and grazing waist, medium strands and thick total volume. Some quite dry areas due to frylights 😕

What kind of conditioner do you use: One Condition and sometimes [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Jessicurl-Too-Shea-Extra-Moisturizing-Conditioner-p-105.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=jessicurl-too-shea-extra-moisturizing-conditioner]Too Shea[/buylink]

How much conditioner do you leave in? I rinse upside down to ensure hair near scalp is rinsed then stop. 80-90%

How does this help your hair? (ie gives more curl, loosens curl, shine, softens) It makes it so soft, good curls and helps with gel crunch

What is your application process for the conditioner?(ie quick rinse? rinse
entirely, then reapply? towl dry first, then apply?) as above!

If you don’t leave it in, or leave in less, why? When I first started CG I wasn’t brave enough to leave in lots as I thought it would get greasy. Luckily I was called into work in an emergency when I was doing a DT with OC under my heatcap – I just dressed and ran thinking I could put my hair up once it had dried but I didn’t need to 😀 If I’m going to use Boots (cream or hair science) I do rinse a little more, but I tend to use them for second day.

Hair type and length: 3A, just past my shoulders when dry. Layered. Fine strands but lots of them, so pretty thick hair.

What kind of conditioner do you use? [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Elucence-Moisture-Balancing-Conditioner-p-39.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=elucence-elucence-moisture-balancing-conditioner]Elucence MBC[/buylink], Giovanni 50/50 & Aveda Elixir

How much conditioner do you leave in? 1½-2 pea sized puddle of Elucence or about 1-2 quarter sized puddles of Elixir

How does this help your hair? (ie gives more curl, loosens curl, shine, softens) Shine, definition, softness, keeping it moisturized/healthy, sunblock

What is your application process for the conditioner?(ie quick rinse? rinse
entirely, then reapply? towl dry first, then apply?) Conditione with Giovanni or Elucence, rinse it all out and put Elixir or Elucence from near scalp to ends. I tend to use Elixir more often as a leave in than Elucence. Eluc. ways my hair down more, makes my scalp get oilier and give less lift on top. I like to use Elucence as a leave in the days I wear a pony tail, “rest” my hair from products and pamper it some.

If you don’t leave it in, or leave in less, why? I have to make sure not to leave in too much when this gives me heavy loking hair and less volume and curl.

What kind of conditioner do you use? Curlybrunette’s Shea It Ain’t SO
How much conditioner do you leave in? size of an almond

How does this help your hair? (ie gives more curl, loosens curl, shine, softens) shine, softness, manageability

What is your application process for the conditioner?(ie quick rinse? rinse
entirely, then reapply? towl dry first, then apply?) no reg. conditioner, apply raking through damp hair

If you don’t leave it in, or leave in less, why?

If anyone is interested in the Shea It Ain’t So Leave In Conditioner–it is creamy, not thick. Smells wonderful. A little goes a long way. PM Curlybrunette for sales. My opinion is that it is very inexpensive.

Hair type and length: 3a/2c, just below BSL

What kind of conditioner do you use? Elucence mainly

How much conditioner do you leave in? quarter size amount

How does this help your hair? softens, helps with dry hair & frizzies

What is your application process for the conditioner? I rinse out all my conditioner first, cause if I don’t my scalp feels gunky. Then I distribute the leave-in

If you don’t leave it in, or leave in less, why? n/a
i’m curious to know a few things about your leavein habits!

Hair type and length:

Bra strap length, 3c curls, very thick, dense, coarse hair.

What kind of conditioner do you use?

Mostly Elucence. Sometimes Paul Mitchell The Conditioner or KMS Curl Hydrator for a change.

How much conditioner do you leave in?

I only put it in to leave it in, and I use lots – I slather it on all over my hair till it is dripping off. I use a palm full for each of about 6 sections.

How does this help your hair? (ie gives more curl, loosens curl, shine, softens)

Makes hair silky, smooth, soft, easy to detangle, weighs it down. (And Elucence smells great!)

What is your application process for the conditioner?(ie quick rinse? rinse
entirely, then reapply? towl dry first, then apply?)

Slather on very wet hair in sections, smoothing through with my hands. Sometimes comb through with a wide-toothed comb – am figuring out how to do this without breakage.

If you don’t leave it in, or leave in less, why?

Not me… no way.

thanks in advance!!!

i’m curious to know a few things about your leavein habits!

Hair type and length: 3B – a little past my chin

What kind of conditioner do you use? Switch off from Aveda Scalp Benefits and Elucence…my leave-in is Too Shea

How much conditioner do you leave in? about a teaspoon now that my hair is short, but i also give a very quick rinse just to move it through the hair, not to get it out

How does this help your hair? (ie gives more curl, loosens curl, shine, softens) all of the above…i also think that it helps give hold to the gel that I use, helps way down the curls, helps the curls feel soft and healthy

What is your application process for the conditioner?(ie quick rinse? rinse
entirely, then reapply? towl dry first, then apply?) I use the Aveda or Elucence to rub into my scalp, then rinse, then i rake it through my curls, then rinse…then apply the [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Jessicurl-Too-Shea-Extra-Moisturizing-Conditioner-p-105.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=jessicurl-too-shea-extra-moisturizing-conditioner]Too Shea[/buylink] with a quick rinse as my leave-in

If you don’t leave it in, or leave in less, why? If I leave in too much, it gets gunky, if I don’t leave in at all, it gets too dry and brittle

thanks in advance!!!

i leave in almost all of my regular condish in the shower. if for some reason i was adding it in after shower, i would scrunch – raking at all after my final rinse breaks up my clumps.

I both rake and scrunch, but mostly scrunch so that got my vote.
