cyclopentasiloxane, mineral oil, wax, etc condishs

I figured, since we have the "sulfate, 'cone and protein-free products" thread, I'd make a sister thread for the opposite.

*** Because I have quite thick hair, I generally avoid products for volume because (A) they aren’t enough moisture and (B) they sometimes rough up my cuticle (to produce this volume) and do some damage. Even many fine-haired wavies/curlies seem to have issues with volumizing conditioners/products.
FYI: These are the products I didn't test for the Conditioner Chronicles.

Because of all of the reformulations this year, I confirmed all the ingredients are correct in the Product Reviews area.

My primary testing exclusion was that of cyclopentasiloxane and other cyclo-siloxane containing conditioners because cyclo-siloxanes have a history of causing intense frizz and difficult removal for me. Therefore, I wasn’t the right one to test those products, and I didn’t want to skew my findings for other products because of residual buildup. I also avoided testing other products that were risks for buildup or flaring my rosacea.
Wow laurabeth that's a great list! You've really been so much of a help!
2C; modified CG coarse and thick hair. Luv KC, Recoil. OneC ,BA and BRHG
Thanks for the extensive heads-up on the c-oxane cond's. It amazes me how this 'cone has taken over the shelves. I know it seems to do amazing things for straighties -- my BF's hair loves it, makes it like shiny, manageable silk -- but it's a curlie's liquid-plastic-coated nightmare.

That's a great list? Could this be made a sticky or article so we don't lose it?

are there some cones that don't cause intense frizz if removed properly?
Low porosity, medium texture.

If it smells good put it in your hair, if it tastes good spit it out!

Well cool I'll have to try those out and see what they do i n my own hair, thanks for the list that was very helpful!

That rosacea one is great - I don't have rosacea, but am allergic to eucalyptus, and I don't always think to check ingredient labels on things like condish to see if it's in them! Thank you!!!

Is mineral oil very hard to get out of hair? Do you need a sulfate shampoo for it? I just got an ingriedient with that at the very bottom of the list and I'm not sure if it will build up.
It's individual for everyone, but mineral oil is basically liquid petroleum jelly. Go stick your finger in some vaseline and see how easily it's removed. It's scary!

You can always try it and look for signs of buildup (limpness, increased frizz, gunkiness, producty feel or appearance, hair that "just won't do anything").
^^ thanks! Is there mineral oil in Set it Free then? I heard that here but I'm not sure if it's true. I'm thinking of getting a couple more deva products.
Does coco betaine remove beeswax?

I've just started using SIF and I like what it does, but my hair is feeling a little more producty lately. I use a coco betaine shampoo once a week or so. Is that enough to get the beeswax from SIF out?
