are astringents good or bad?

i bought a spray leave-in conditioner from boots, and the description on the back says this:
Leave-in Volumising Conditioner - Adds volume to lack-lustre hair Butcher's Broom revitalises and cleanses

Fine lack-lustre hair needs gentle treatement to make it look its best. This lightweight spray conditioner moisturises, detangles and adds volume to your hair without weighing it down. The result is hair that looks and feels thicker and fuller.

Butchers Broom: Natural astringent properties of this extract counteract build-up in the hair, leaving your hair full of vitality and volume.
The bit at the bottom was intriguing - it prevents or fights buildup? My hair is easily prone to buildup and weighed down so I thought this was interesting. The ingredients are CG, here they are:

Aqua, Polysorbate 20, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Phenoxyethanol, Parfum, Polquaternium-10, Panthenol, Benzophenon-4, Sodium Benzoate, Sodium methylparaben, Dipropyleme glycol, Citric Acid, Glycerin, Citronellol, Pentylene Glycol, Sodium acetate, Sodium Chlorie, Ruscus aculeatus, Coumarin, Isopropyl alcohol, lactic acid
any of thos ingredients look bad?

and my main question - the word astringent for some reason to me sounds drying - is it? i'm oh so slightly confused

cleanse: OS shampoo. PureNuffStuff cleanser.
condition: Aussie 3MM. Jessicurl Aloeba.
style: B2Basics GreenTeaGel. T&G Curl Balm. JCarter Nourish&Shine.

pw: curlywurly
I don't know if it's a good or bad thing but I don't need my conditioner to cleanse unless I'm going to use it for a co wash.
That's like clothes that have soap on the inside, what's the point I don't get it?
Low porosity, medium texture.

If it smells good put it in your hair, if it tastes good spit it out!
