Help! my gel was discontinued :(

Hi all,

I used to lurk on these forums a lot, but I found a gel/routine that worked great for me almost every day without fail so I haven't been here in a while.

Garnier Fructis Body Boost Volumizing Gel was perfect for my hair. Gave me great soft curls even with air-drying, didn't weigh it down and give me a flat top (hate that with a passion) and good 2nd & sometimes even 3rd day hair.

I tried their new Pure clean gel and hated it (crunchy curls, flat hair, 2nd day mess). I found some Body Boost available on amazon, but that will just delay the inevitable. did anyone else use this? can someone recommend a good replacement?

Do you know about how much hold you are looking for? Herbal essence has some CG gels including totally twisted, set me up, and body envy. Aussie also has a few CG gels, body envy and instant freeze, I believe. (a blog to help new wavies, go to the how do I get started page)

When I first went CG all I had was the HE Set Me Up Gel and I loved it. Minimal crunch, great hold. But after much reading on the boards, I decided to try and make homemade FSG and my hair LOVES it!!! It's cheap and easy to make.

sent from my HTC Inspire
I have tried LA sport and it was too heavy for my hair. I'm a 3a, but my hair is very easily weighed down so I think a lighter hold would be better. I'm going to try totally twisted or set me up. If they don't work maybe I'll try to make the FSG, but that sounds like more of a project

thanks for the recommendations, I hate just randomly buying things that end up not working out. I used to have a cabinet full of any drugstore product that mentioned curly hair. my hair has looked better since I started my low maintenance a few years ago, I don't want to lose that!

thanks again!
HESMU is a pretty hard hold, but I don't find it is heavy at all. (I have the same problem with some gels weighing me down.). You will get a lot of crunch, but you can sotc without any trouble. Plus you can mix it with some avg If you want a little less hold/crunch.

When I diffuse with it, though, I get very little crunch.

Good luck!!!

Good thing it's inexpensive, because HESMU was horrible for me. Not hard hold at all, more of a medium at best. Made my hair look dull too.

I am going to try the LALSG one of these days!
