The one time I used EVOO as a DT...

My hair felt the worst it had ever felt afterwords.

Seriously- like straw. I swore I would never ever ever do that again.

I am curious though what other's opinions/thoughts are this fact. Any idea why this happened and what it might say about my hair? I have thin 3B hair w/ low porosity (according to the float test I did- it didn't sink- I am new to all this though and have been doing tons of research so I am still learning.)

Im 4a 3c low porosit and my hair loves EVOO for hot oil treatments. I slather it on dry hair then cover with a plastic cap and sit under a hooded dryer for 15 to 20 minutes. Then I shampoo. I cant seal or use it as a styler like some people do because my hair is fine and will feel greasy.
Yes, it's real. No, you can't touch it.
Well, that float test isn't always that accurate.

But, EVOO is an oil that penetrates the hair shaft, and is very heavy. If you use too much of it, that "straw" feeling is what you get. There is probably still a lot of oil in there, so I'd do a clarifying poo or BS wash/ACV rinse.

I only use EVOO as an additive to conditioner on DT's. I have pre-poo'd with it before, though, but find I still have to be careful then.
