Has anyone tried monoi or jojoba oils on their hair?
I heard that both were great for moisture, shine, and frizz control so I wanted to try them. Is one better than the other? If my roots get kind of oily, will it make my hair oilier? For reference, I'm a 2b with dry hair at the ends.

I haven't tried either one but I've heard nothing but great things about jojoba oil. I wish I knew where to get some.

you can get it at the health food store or online. I'm ordering from :)

I just got a sample package of Jojoba oil, lotion, poo and condish from California Gold. I've been massaging my scalp before washing with the oil and it's gotten rid of the itchiness and dryness. I've been smoothing a small amount ( a drop or two) throughout my hair before products and it makes me hair very soft.

glad to hear it's working for you! :)

Oh yeah... :D Thanks... BTW I don't think it makes my hair oilier. I also have been using it to take makeup off my face, and it actually seems to cleanse without being too absorbs pretty quickly.

I seen some at GNC the other day. I've used it in my hair, and love the results, I've gone days without conditioning with good results, although I didn't have the best looking curls, my hair was very soft and not frizzy. The key is not using too much. it doesn't take much at all to work.

I often use jojoba oil as sort of a finishing product to calm flyaways and frizzies after I style my hair. I smoothe it over the top and scrunch it through it adds shine and helps kill frizz.

It also makes a great facial moisturizer! I get mine at the Vitamin Shoppe.

I thik jojoba is wonderful. I get mine on, because I'm too lazy to seek out a health food store. I use one or two drops to smooth my canopy if I have any frizz after styling. I also make a spray of a few drops of jojoba in a small amount of water (like 1 ounce) and use it to refresh my style mid-day.

awesome, thanks! :D

I got my jojoba from too. I mix it with my conditioner on dry days with low humidity. I also scrunch some in if my hair isn't clumping too well due to the dry weather.
I can add it to my regular conditioner and use it as a DT too.

Jojoba and now Peach kernel oil are both great on my hair in small quantities

I use Jojoba oil on my scalp, and also to help tame frizzies/flyaways. For 2nd day hair, I have a bit of Jojoba oil mixed with water and lavender oil in a spray bottle. I get mine at a local health food store, and I use the Desert Essence brand.

I use a few drops of jojoba oil to smooth down any surface frizz I may have. It's really great because it gives my hair moisture without making it greasy. It's really light, almost dry feeling. hth :)

eta: I buy mine at GNC.

I absolutely love jojoba oil I literally put it in everythinng. For hair I use it as like a shine serum to combat flyaways and to add some shine. I also use it in facial products or any DYI recipes I may make.

I got a sample of jojoba oil from California Gold. I'm experimenting with it some, but I can't seem to get it right. A couple of drops doesn't seem to do anything, and then I get too much and it seems to make my hair frizzier.

I seem to experience this with all oils or oily pomades I have tried. I guess I'm too heavy-handed.

I have found the best facial moisturizer I was using straight jojoba oil then someone told me to use it with AVG and wow. I put a quarter size amount of AVG and a couple drops jojoba oil just mix them together in my hand and apply to my face. I usually have some left over and just rub it into my hands. It gives me the softest silkiest skin ever

What's AVG?

You can also get jojoba oil at Trader Joe's.

AVG is apple cider vinegar. For other common abbreviations used around here visit the "Newbies, welcome!" section and click the subject "Definitions".
