Before and after pics of CG for 3 months!

Hi! My friend introcduced me to CG about 3 months ago when I was having a moan about having to straighten my hair every day only for it to frizz up and me have to tie it back. I HATED my hair!

So, I cut out sulphates and sillicones. I co-wash but use a non sulphate shampoo about once a week. I am struggling to find a product I like that is CG friendly and available in the UK though. I have some Boots Naturals Curl serum which is not that great. I think my hair would prefer something more creamy. I've tried gels but they dry my hair out. So at the moment I am using a leave in conditioner and then a leave in hair moisturiser from Lush which I am not even sure is CG

It has become more curly. But what I am finding is that I have tight curls underneath (the new growth) but it is wavy on top. I wonder if that is due to years of straightening/chemically colouring and maybe it will benefit from a good cut now.

I have just used Lush Henna caca rouge on my hair too which hasmade it so lovely and shiny!

I'm pretty new at this, so I can't answer your questions, sorry. I just wanted to tell you your curls are beautiful!

I wouldn't be surprised if you have new curlier growth. I blow dried and straightened my hair for years, then used a curling iron to put curl in where I wanted it. A couple of years ago, after one bad hair cut after another, I got my hair permed in hopes of growing out my hair and growing out those bad hair cuts with a little bit of grace. My last perm was 11 months ago. It's been 2 years of no blow drying or straightening, or styling, very little heat of any kind on my hair; just scrunching. Now I'm seeing curls that I'm pretty sure (hoping) are mine! I think it's possible!
My hair: TBD, but appears to be 2B/2C, medium density, medium porosity with higher porosity on chemically treated ends, medium width.

Permed 1 year ago, should be mostly grown out and cut off. I'm not sure how much of these curls are my own.

Current products being used: DC No poo, DC conditioner, DC gel, FSG
First of all - great results so far!! Looks very pretty!!

As for curls under and waves over - that's actually really common. A lot of people have a mix of curl/wave patterns. My hair is probably mostly a 3a, but on top it's a mix of 3a/2c, and underneath it's 3a/3b.

Yes, straightening, chemicals, even sun and air pollution can all effect the canopy and make the wave pattern weaker. Sometimes it's a combination of that and your natural mixed pattern. That's what I'm finding it is for me, but CG has made it equalize a lot more than what it used to be.

I've been CG for a year now, and I'm still learning, and my hair is still improving. You are already seeing progress after 3mos - wait until 6 or 9mos!!
