These worrying rogue hairs...

Hi everyone

My hair is made up of lots of "normal" hairs, if you pulled one out it would look smooth but curly, if you know what I mean. But there are lots of these really coarse, wiry, fat ones, that, if you pull one out and laid it down, it looks like a road on a map, with no real direction, no curl, and feels like wire when you run it through your fingers. Its really like pubic hairs, really crinkly and its not damaged, just how it grows.

Being that i dont know any other curlies like me, I wondered if I'm exceptionally different here, or do other people get these horrible nasty textured hairs? They make me feel upset because they don't curl, just stick out and make a nuisance of themselves. I actually tend to pull them out, because they are so annoying, but this is hardly an ideal way of dealing with them. Its very disheartening.

Is there hope for these hairs with the CG way? I have known curly girls in the past who didnt have these hairs, all their hairs were similar in texture.

I hope I don't seem like I'm whining here, I'm just so clueless and don't know how normal this is, and how to deal with it. A lot of my new growth has these hairs, and they stick RIGHT up and dont lie along with the rest of the curls. A good example of these is the first pic in my album, although myhair was wet at the time so it was calmer than usual.

Any help out there?

But then again, too few to mention...
Ive got em.

Although I did find that leaving a super moisturising conditioner in my hair (Joico Kpak) before I styled remedied it.

I too used to pull them out, but the more moisturised my hair became the less they appeared, in my experience they are shorter than the rest of the hair, which means they are new growth, but because they are shorter they tend to not fall into place with the rest and I think they are more prone to the elements because they are sticking out.

Have you thought about products with more hold so they stick better to the rest?

I get those too. It started in my early thirties I remember. I just condition well and hope for the best. I mean they're just some hairs, most of my hair does its curly thing fine. Now that I condition better than I used to I see less of them orrrrrrrr maybe I just ignore them better?
Low porosity, medium texture.

If it smells good put it in your hair, if it tastes good spit it out!
Some of my greys are growing in like that. They stick straight up off my head! I'm hoping they don't all end up looking like that or I'm going to be one witchy looking lady.

Yes, the greys are so naughty the way they poke out! I have to say though, since wearing my hair curly, I've found the curls tend to hide the grey more than straight hair does, so theres a bonus!
