I hate gel. Is there hope for me?

I also have low porosity hair and hate gel for all of the same reasons that you do. My hair is a crunchy/producty mess today. All because of gel.

Wondering about the jelly as opposed to gel as KM recommends. And what about puddings?? And, lastly, does anyone have a specific rec for jelly?

Think I should take a look at the low porosity board too.

Amberaschocki, any luck?
3a/and that one odd straight hair! Medium iii. Low porosity. Likes protein once in a blue moon, but only followed by moisture. Hates glycerin.

i hate gels, also. i do use and LOVE cj aloe fix gel in mid to high dews. in the winter i sometimes use lalsg -- not a love of mine, but not so bad.

however, i think i hit upon something today -- i used cj rehab as leave in, then used a bit of cj honey butta as a curl creme. when my hair dried i had my usual hair around my face that is dry and loses moisture quickly. i decided to use a sealer on it today. i generally only use a sealer in really low dews, today was i think about 35. and wow!! what a difference! i used very little, and only where i needed it. my hair is sooooo curly today!
i used jane carter's nourish and shine.

so, maybe something like that could work for you. of course, it remains to be seen if i get consistently good results, got my fingers crossed!
