Skipping shampoos

This may sound stupid, but I hear a lot about going a day or two without washing your hair. My question is how do I do this if I use product everyday? If I spritz water on it the day after I have used product, it just ends up a tangled mess.
I can't speak for everyone but myself and some others wet and condition everyday. For me, 'washing' means washing my scalp - I use a no-poo once a week or so, and WO in between. I clarify every month or so with a BS/ACV wash and rinse. If your products are not cone-free, this will not work for you as they will build up.
remember, with all advice or suggestions for your hair, YMMV!!
My hair:
2b wavy, medium texture, low porosity, med-high density. Protein finicky.
My routine:
Cleansing: DCNP, every 4-5 days (occasionally use CJ cleansers).
RO: CJSC, occasionally use JCDC
Gel: KCCC, CJCIAB for 2nd day hair (sometimes third)

Heat is my friend: warm water rinses, steam caps, and diffuse dry. I love CLU cloths and my Denman.
I may not cleanse everyday, but I do at least rinse my hair. Since I don't use cone-y products I don't worry about build up.
Coarse texture, normal-high porosity, normal elasticity (Komaza Care), very weak waves
cleanser: Redken Fresh Curls Shampoo, CJ Daily Fix

rinse out: GVP Conditioning Balm, CJ Beauticurls, CJ Smoothing

jellies/creams: CR Curl Maker, KCCC
gels: CJ CQ, CJ Pattern Pusha, BRHG

Why, the curly girl method of course! Basically you don't use shampoo, but you use all water soluble products, so everything rinses out with just conditioner.

I'm another one who wets, uses a rinse out and styles every day. I'm older, so oily scalp isn't an issue. I use natural soap bars to cleanse (every 3-5 days in the summer, up to 10 days in the winter.) I do CJ Daily Fix every 3-6 weeks for it's chelating properties and a low poo when I use an ingredient my hair doesn't like.

My hair prefers the more natural products from the online, boutique type companies. I stay away from chemicals, especially polyquats. I was told that they don't build up; however, for me, they coat my hair in such a way that it won't absorb product. That's when I've had to use a low poo (with a stronger surfactant) to remove ingredients.
