Darcy's Botanical Order...First Thoughts!
Loving, absolutely loving the Daily Cleansing Conditioner Cream. I've never been the type to co-wash, but this actually cleans my hair and it does lather a bit when you when rinse, so I don't feel like have to use a ton for it to distribute. More than a traditional shampoo, but less than a conditioner.

Pumpkin Seed Curl Moisturizing Conditioner - Liking it a lot. Warning though, I'm a lot easier to please with my RO conditioners in general. It leaves my hair feeling really soft and moisturized, but not weighed down at all. It doesn't have a lot of initial slip (I'm not much a slip person, but I know people like to know), but it does feel slippy after it's sat in your hair for a few minutes. The instyructions indicate to use it this way. I do this normally, condition my hair first and then go about my showering and shaving. If you want conditioner in your hair that will have slip that you rinse out immediately, than this may not be the conditioner for you...I do have lower porosity so maybe it's just my hair taking the time to absorb products.

Now for the downer. I hated, actually hated, the Shea Butter Moisturizing Cream. I skipped the Daily Leave-In Conditioner because I'm allergic to lavender and I thought the heavier leave-in would be better for my hair. This product doesn't glide through the hair. It makes me feel like I'm undoing the detangling work of my RO. It doesn't feel like it's adding any moisture and it doesn't aid in clumping. I thought maybe it's the shea, maybe it's just too stiff and waxy of a butter, *but* my lovely SM Curl & Style Hair milk has shea in it. Maybe it's the quantities. I don't know. All I know is it is awful for my hair and I'm glad I didn't pay for it.

I do like the company and I think I will order the Sweet Cocoa Bean Curl Smoothing Cream today to replace this. The other products either have some sort of wax or aloe and I think that if I'm going to be serious about co-washing I have to skip wax. It does gummy things to my hair. That's actually generally what I mean by weighed down, my hair is too thick to literally weigh down, but it can feel nasty and my curl pattern can not look nice.

I want to try the Curling Creme Gel, but I don't need a gel right now while my hair is in it's awkward phase and I'm wearing it up. It also has honey so it might be a disaster anyway. I'll just have to sit on my thumbs and just get what I need :confused1:.

Wow, I had the same experience with these products! The Cleansing Cream is great as a cowash, even though I'm not cowashing too often. Moisturizing, too. I love the Pumpkin RO, and the protein doesn't affect me at all! I find that it absorbs a lot better, though, if I use a lowpoo as opposed to the Cleansing Cream. But I still like the Cleansing Cream a lot :) My hair hated the Shea Butter Moisturizing Cream too. It dried it out and made it weird. Maybe it was the silk protein?

This is why :love1: the General Discussion board. Our hair are drastically different curl types, but we obviously must have similar hair properties.

I don't know, the SM Curl & Style Milk has silk protein in it. Maybe it has less. I think it might be the fruit and citrus extracts. They're great in the cleanser, cause they clarify, but not in a leave-in. Maybe it's the combination of the two.

Oh and how are you liking the Cream-Gel?

I love the curling cream gel. Its nothing like a gel more like a curl cream. I find right now can get away with products with light hold so it works well for me right now. I skipped the leave in under it as well. Hair was really soft with defined curls.

And as for the Cream-Gel, for me, it's on and off, I guess. Sometimes, it gives me lovely, soft curls, but then they dry out or my hair feels hard. I think it might be the Daily Leave-In, actually, that I use under it.

Now that I think about it, it might be the dews because my hair loved this in spring. The DB Leave-in has glycerin, so I might lay off that for a little bit. I'll try the Cream-Gel again with KCKT or something.

I LOVE the pumpkin seed conditioner - it is my all time favorite conditioner, hands down. It doesn't have as much slip initially as some other conditioners, but still pretty decent slip, and it is by far the most moisturizing silicone free conditioner I have ever used. I always leave my conditioner in my hair while I do my other shower stuff; this conditioner really penetrates my hair and moisturizes it, and my tangles just melt away. The only reason I even rotate with other conditioners it just so I don't use this up too fast, lol!

I also have the cream-gel, which is nice. As another poster said, it's more of a curl cream than a gel. It provides a nice soft hold, no crunch, with decent definition. This is not my favorite styler, but is a decent one to have in your line-up. I like to use this over a good LI on days I'm wanting to pack a little more moisture rather than hold. But you could use this as a curl cream under a gel if you wanted more hold.

I haven't tried the shea or daily leave in, but I do have the Curl Styling Leave-in Cream - it's more like a butter, and is very thick but not heavy. This is another HG for me - I use it every time I wash in combination with all different products. I sometimes use it as an extra layer of moisture after my LI/seal and under my jelly styler, but most of the time I scrunch it into the ends of my hair as a final step after I squeeze the extra water from my hair.

I'm really wanting to try the daily cleansing conditioner after reading so many good things about it, and maybe another cream or butter that I can keep in rotation.

I was thinking about trying the Curl Styling, but it has wax in it and my hair and scalp are so susceptible to build up. Even certain oils are a I'm rediscovering (looking at you argan). It also has honey in and my hair has hated honey so far.

Hmmm from what I've heard so far I may just pass on the cream-gel. Again, the honey thing. It usually dried my hair out and doesn't do a whole lot. My hair loves conditioner only styling and I just need to get it through my PJ head. It's like me and makeup with primers. I just don't need them.
*And by "pass" I mean I'll wait at least 3 more months before I purchase it.

I never notice dews. My hair reacts the same everyday. Maybe it's cause I live in the Pacific NW. The weather does not change drastically here.
