what to tell stylist?

So.. I've been going to a deva stylist for many years and just recently tried to straighten my hair and NO WAY!!! So uneven!!! So, I'm going back to a regular stylist. Problems I have had in the past were two things.... somehow they seem to thin out my already THIN hair and I end up getting the shelf look over time with the layering.
So... what do I have them do so I can have nice curly hair and nice straight hair?
I'm going to a lady who has naturally curly hair but.... she straightens hers all the time. So.... don't know if that is going to help her really understand curly hair or not.
What do I have them do? I have above shoulder length hair when dry and it's fine and thin. I need layers otherwise it weighs down and curls look awful. Right now i've been getting longer layers tho very uneven layers. The curls looks good and they blend nicely but ONLY when curly. And when it's super dry out, I want to straighten it.

Most Deva stylists cut straight hair to so I wonder if you wouldnt do better to go back to her to help you even out the cut. I would worry they would cut too much in trying to even it out. My guess would be it would take a couple cuts to even it out if its very uneven.

My Deva stylist said there is more to the cut than just curl by curl. It was different than what I pictured curl by curl to be.
Maybe I should. OY!!!!! I go back and forth. I am afraid the regular stylist will lop off too much and thin my hair out. I love my curly hair but what a PaIN it is to keep up if you want both straight and curly!!!!!!

I dont know what even I would do now if I chose not to go back to a Deva stylist. I have never been this happy before with a haircut so I cant imagine that a regular stylist would ever make me happy now.

I guess my plan would be to grow my hair out and get some good length on it before letting a non Deva stylist cut it.
I talked with my old stylist where I used to live and this is what she said....

Typically, the way most people do a deva cut, your hair will not look as even straight. The reason for getting the deva cut is to wear it curly.

On my clients who wear it straight and curly, I even pull it out either dry or wet and do a more even cut as well as do a curly dry detail cut. That's just the way I do it though.

So..... I guess it won't look super even with the deva cut. But I have never been happier with my curly hair and I don't want to lose that. So, I'm going back to the deva stylist here and have her hopefully just make it a little better when straight but not lose the really nice curl pattern
