New to the forum! Seriously need help! (-:

Hi! After reading and reading everything on the forum, I finally made an account! I can't decide if I have 3a or 3b hair but here is how I would describe it: REALLY thick, REALLY dry, REALLY frizzy, REALLY poofy and REALLY REALLY INSANE LOOKING!!! I really want to love having curly hair but my curls look awful. My hair is so thick that the bottom of my hair kind of fans out as if I have an umbrella of curls on the top of my head. I only wash my hair about 3 times a week but it is so, so dry. Here is my regimen: I wash my hair at about 5:00 then put in a curl cream and an anti-frizz cream in and let it air dry all night. I put it in a loose braid while i sleep. The next day, my hair just looks frizzy, not even curly. I am so frustrated with my hair. It has the potential to be gorgeous but I guess I am doing everything wrong. Does anyone have any advice?

You've come to the right place to learn how to take care of your curly hair! It's all in the products and techniques.

Best thing you can do is read, read, read and read some more. It's important to learn about your hair. You need to know your hair properties, it's how you choose ingredients/products. Here's a link to help Live Curly Live Free - Curly Hair Basics

If your hair "fans out" or, as we say, looks like a triangle or pyramid--you need a haircut with the appropriate layering. It's the foundation for great hair.

Good luck on your curly journey.
