is it true that if you wear a relaxer for a long time you can actually change your type of hair or curl pattern. My friend wore a relaxer for 5 years and cut her hair off 2 years ago and she says her hair isnt the same and is not as tight and curly as it used to be. Can relaxers damage your hair that much?
Hair is a woman's pride and joy
keep it so fresh and so clean!!!
I had the same thing happen! I got relaxers back in the early 90's, and when I finally stopped, my hair texture was different. It was less tightly curled, but I still had plenty of curl left, and it seemed more manageable and less frizzy.
Then in the late 90's it got crazy again. I got perms for a couple of years to relax the curl. When I stopped with the perms about 4 years ago, my texture was a lot less curly. I'm ok with it, because I still have a lot of curl.
I'm not sure if the results are due to the treatments, though, as hair grows from the inside. I'm wondering if it's just normal changes the body can go through, and some affect hair. Isn't there some sort of thing about the body changing every 7 years or so? I thought I heard that some where, and that it can affect taste and other senses. I don't know if it's true, but if so, I don't see why hair couldn't change too.
could it be that or ... your hair changes as you age? When I was a little girl I had curls but then as I went through elementary school my hair wasn't as curly and now its getting curlier again? Me? I don't perm or relax, I just go natural!
Only you can make the right decisions for yourself.
