fine & porous + oil = stringy

I thought porous hair was supposed to like oil. Not mine!! I have tried a variety of oils in various methods but I always end up with stringy greasy weighed down curls. Gross. My hair cannot get enough moisture - so I tried an oil rinse this morning. Yuk. I had to wash and style again. Any thoughts?
I can only use oil a few drops at a time. I use it to seal, and I'll use lighter oils to refresh dry hair. But it's always a few drops rubbed into my palms and then smoothed onto the hair.

What oils are you using? Penetrating oils like coconut or EVOO will only work in DT's and pre-poos. I can use jojoba, or SM's elixir, or Grapeseed oil for sealing or refreshing. I use mineral oil for sealing. I've yet to try castor oil, but I hear good things.

Be sure to have a good protein and moisture balance - my hair can't get enough of either, and I'm fine and porous!

Hope that helps some!

Oil doesn't really provide moisture...use a water-based product and then try the oil to seal.

In general I feel you though, I dislike sealing with oil. When I pre-poo I use EVOO and I'm quite happy when it's time to wash that sucker out, lol. Oils aren't mandatory though, you can also seal with non-water based creams/butters (and those can contain the oils.)
