Roller jaw clippers - help me!
Ok, so I got the Sally's version of the CHS clips and tried them today. It didn't go well. :/

I'm sure it's me, and I'm doing something wrong. So can you guys explain to me how you guys use them?

Do you put them across your part, or on either side of it? Are they parallel to the part, or perpendicular? Do you stack the curls and then clip them? Or do you just clip the roots? And if you stack, do the curls look too "separate" from the unclipped curls below them? And if you do the roots only, how do you keep from getting crimps, or having the clip flatten out your curls?

Heeelp!! Lol! Thx!!

I still have issues with my CHS jaw clips. I've tried every which way. They just seem to knock the curl out of my bangs when i use them. I'll keep trying though. I like using the metal clips.

I Like the metal clips, too, and have used small/med octopus type clips, too, and had luck. This was my first go with these. I'll keep experimenting, but would love some words of wisdom!!

And it ended up not turning out as bad as I first thought it was, but still not quite the results I would have liked.

I'm sure the fact that I need to cut my hair isn't helping, either!!

HI, Jas. First, I got the CHS ones. I went to Sally's and could not figure out which ones to get, so I decided to get the ones on the video.

I part my hair. At the back of the crown, I comb my hair back so that it is not all part in the front. I start there. Open the clip so the jaws open out, and grab some hair. You are pulling up on your hair here. That is first. All the other clips will be inserted into your hair like this:_---- those lines are the jaws of the clips. I insert three in front, on each side of the part. Then I move to the back. At t his point I have used 7 of the 12 clips. I insert another clip behind the first clip, kind of drawing up, or pulling up hair into the clip. Then I insert two at the back on the side. I insert another two behind the one at the crown and the one behind that. Did you used to use rollers, ever? you are basically using the pattern that you used for a roller set. A strip of rollers up the front (crown) to the back; sides, and sides of the back of your head. I dont think this is clear but I hope it is.

Thanks for the explanation, Myrna! I will have to sort through that to make sense of it, tho. ;) Do you do pretty much what they do in the videos? I'm not sure if I can put the whole length of my hair in there - it's almost elbow length right now. Though it's layered, so maybe I can at least do the top shorter layers? Idk. I'll keep experimenting.

Jas, I dont clip up all my hair, I dont see how anyone can. I clip around my face, and in the back to t he nape of my neck. The clips are to create volume. I dont know about you, but the lower part of my hair, which is not nearl as long as yours, curls just fine. Its the volume around my face that I am after.

I'm having major issues with these. My hair takes FOREVER to dry, how can the hair that is all bunched up get dry? Maybe I don't have enough hair either, my hair is pretty fine, and the clips just fall over. Help? :)
