Does anyone know of a product like this? r/o please

My salon has their own line of products and one I've been using and loving is called Geleefoam--it comes in a bottle and pumps out like a gel but when you rub your hands together, it foams up. It's great for my fine, thin on top curls and has "level 6 hold" (read, medium hold). With it, I can airdry without clips and not have the hair on top plastered to my head. It is alcohol free, has dimethecone (which hasn't been a problem) and I think has a protein in it. It is not oily in the least and is very lightweight.

I really like it but it's about $14 for just under 8 ounces and is only available at the salon. Granted, you use about a quarter sized blob so it's lasted over 2 months and I'm not done with it yet. I have seen Paul Mitchell's foaming pomade but doesn't have a review and MakeupAlley's reviews are all over the board. Has anyone tried the foaming pomade and can give a reference?

Any help at all is greatly appreciated!

Haven't tried the foaming pomade. You might want to try Aussie Volumizing Foam + Leave-in Conditoner, which is also a non-aerosol mousse in a pump bottle. It's quite a decent mousse.
La looks has several gel to mousse products as well. What are the ingredients of the salon foam? maybe we can find something similar.
hi laura,

i have no recommendations, but i am all for using products that you like.

here is my reasoning: you like the $14 product, which costs about $.50/day or $3.50 a week. Let's say you start experimenting with the aussie product and pay $3.75 for it, but it doesn't work. money wasted.

on to the paul mitchell foaming product. that product is at least $8. again, this product doesn't work and now you have wasted approximately $12 on two products that didn't work for you.

by adding $2 to the amount of money wasted on products that didn't work, you could have bought a product that you like and works on your hair.

and better yet, since one 8oz bottle lasts about 2 months, you have plenty of time to save the $14 to buy a product that you do like.

just start a hair product jar and starting throwing in $.50 or so everyday.

just a different way to think about the situation.

Thank you all for your responses. They have been very helpful.

SuZenGuide: I have tried the Aussie volumizing foam and it didn't work for me--my hair went very poofy but it is possible I wasn't using enough. I really appreciate the product recommendation.

Heavengirl410: I did not know about the LA Looks gels. I may check them out when I'm at Tar-jay this morning. The ingredients for the Gelefoam are (pardon mispellings, please): water, isopentane, isobutane, pvp/va copolymer, panthenol, aloe barbadensis leave extract, hedythium coronarium root extract, actinidia chinensis (kiwi) fruit extract, mangifera indica (mango) fruit extract, passiflora incarnata fruit extract, hydrolyzed wheat protein, hydrolized wheat startch, dimethicone copolyol, polyquarternium-11, sodium pca, oleth-20, tetrasodium edta, carbomer, sodium hydroxide, benzophenone-3, methylparaben, diazolidinyl urea, fragrance.

Wntrbloom: you are so very right. I just returned liter sized shampoo and conditioners (why does a shampoo need dimethicone in it????) which was extra time and gas on my part when I know what works for me (I just wanted to find something cheaper and not mailorder). I guess the grass is always greener somewhere!
