CG Product Help :)

I finally figured out my hair details, it took a while! I was originally using Suave Naturals Coconut (cowash) followed by TRESemme Naturals Nourishing Moisture Conditioner With Aloe Vera & Avocado, but even though I wasn't washing very often (once every four days) my hair felt weighed down. I've been following this particular routine for a little over two months, but my hair isn't seeming to like cowash and conditioning, so I was thinking about switching to a low-poo and a conditioner instead (the two above mentioned products are almost out).

I have a lot of breakage so I'm trying to strengthen my hair, but I'm not sure if I need humectants or protein... or both?!

Any CG product suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

My hair deets are: 2B, med length, med texture (I battled between med and fine, but finally decided my hair wasn't soft/thin enough), high porosity (yet it floats in water), high density, low elasticity (only stretches a bit dry and wet then breaks).

Thanks a bunch!
It's worth reading through the board/ running an advanced search, your issue is spookily similar to other threads I have read or posted on lately.

Both your conditioners contain humectants and emollients (fatty alcohols and cationic surfactants) but little in the way of protein or occlusives (oils and butters). Neither of those products will particularly strengthen hair and they could weaken by over moisturising, so don't dismiss conditioner only washing after one product combination.

For breakage, high porosity and low elasticity limit humectants especially in very high or low dews, instead use ingredients like hydrolysed protein and coconut oil. You can also try ceramides and panthenol.

Yeah, there were a lot of "similar" topics yet none that addressed my specific hair type and issue. Thank you for your responses, the links were very helpful!
