How Do You Part Your Hair?

I was just curious to see how other curlies part their hair? I typically part my hair toward the right side. It is a pretty deep part as well, but was thinking of trying something different. Do you part your hair? Is it down the middle or off to one side? I'm curious! =)

I part mine so it goes to the right, just off-center. I used to do the zig zag part and may go back to it now that I have a regular cut again.

I try to let it do it's own thing. But I "steer" it towards the middle so I get even volume on both sides. It naturally wants to go that way so I usually just move odd pieces where I want them. But I try not to break up the curls so much so when I move them I push up a few inches from the root to see if that makes it break up on it's own. Sometimes I rewet it a little more to help it along.

Low-poo: Looking for a new one.

I have a pretty deep right side part. I also do the zigzag thing but i am thinking of experimenting with a different part or something.
My hair naturally parts about an inch off center on the right and goes in a diagonal direction toward the right side. It's a short part, so I just kinda continue it in a zig zag fashion. Parting my hair drives me crazy. I try not to do it evenly, because then I get caught up in trying to make it perfect.

I always parted my hair on the side but after going curly I learned that my volume is just way, way too uneven. I end up with so much hair on one side and barely any on the other.

I've been trying a centre part out (something I thought I would never do) after seeing many other lovely curlies rocking them out and it's been working out for me a lot better! I think it also improves my 2nd day hair because when I pineapple the centre canopy and parting is better protected then when it was on the side.

I do a diagonal part that starts on the right and ends in the middle of my crown. I have a side fringe that I straighten so I can't really change the part as it stuffs up my fringe. I'd like not to do a part at all but I've just not figured out how to not do one!
3b in South Australia.
I part about 2 inches from the center so it goes right. I do this once my curls have set, then just shake my hair while leaning to the right. Sometimes I have to move a few of the back pieces over, but I don't usually need to breakup curls for my part.

I mostly part my hair on the left, so it all falls on the right. I've been doing this ever since I was young, because I've got three ear piercings on my left side (and only two on my right) and wanted to show them off. So now it's just an ingrained thing!

I do occasionally like to rock a middle part too though, it just depends on my mood really.

I normally part my hair to the side, but not always. As I'm embracing the Curly Girl Method, my independent hair (its always had a mind of its own ~ lol) is springing to Life. In the spirit of learning to love it and its ways, I've been letting the curl formation dictate where the part will be while it's wet. Right, left, zig-zaggy, or in the's all good! I've found an unexpected bonus in doing this ~ there's far more "stay" power throughout my long days.
Thanks for sharing everyone! I think the way you part your hair gives you a different look than how you part it other ways. I was thinking about trying a part down the middle instead of to the right, just to get more even volume. =)

For years I had a right side part. Lately I was doing no part so some of the hair is on both sides. I really liked that a lot after seeing so many curlies rock that.

I did try going back to the side part with my new inverted bob and it looked horrible. So now I am sort of trying the zig-zag center no part and really liked that better.(kind of hard to explain, very small 1" zig-zag).

Well.....because I always part my hair down the middle when I'm in the shower to detangle and have done this for years now, my hair naturally parts in the middle. However, once it dries I usually end up flipping it from one side to the other throughout the day. Just depends on which side allows it to be out of my way during whatever I'm doing. I guess it does give me more volume on one side more than the other but I like that look.
