First curly hair cut, Divacurl or Ouidad stylist? help.

After years blowdrying my hair straight I've decided to free my 2C/3A (not sure on that yet) locks. I've been able to locate both a diva curl and Ouidad trained stylist. So, the question is which one should I choose? My hair is a couple of inches past my shoulders and lightly layered with no bangs. Opinion on which cut is better or would work best with my hair would be greatly appreciated, please.

i vote for a devachan trained stylist-they cut each curl and cut hair dry. ouidad stylists tend to thin hair out with carving and slicing which you do not need. sometimes very thick haired 3c and curlier like ouidad cuts a lot. try the deva trained first and let us know what u think. welcome and good luck

Hi Banjo,

Thank you for the advice. The diva trained stylist location is only 5 minutes from my work, while the ouidad stylist is over an hour away. So, that's pretty good news.

I have not had either actually cut my hair, but from reading these boards for a while, it seems that the Deva cut works on a much wider variety of curls.

I haven't been able to try either myself yet but as mentioned above, the Ouidad cuts seem to be for people with much bulkier hair. I'd say try the Deva route first.
And take pictures!

Your imput is so very appreciated. After reading your posts I've decided on the deva cut trained stylist. I'll let you know how it goes and take plenty of pictures.

I had my hair cut my a Deva-trained stylist last week and I'm very happy with the results. She even changed it up a bit and gave me a side swept bang. I love how I have more curls all over my head instead of that triangle look I get with long layers.
I'd say definitely go with the Deva trained stylist. They are awesome and really show you how to naturally enhance your own "inner curl", not fight it!
