Herbal Essences Set Me Up for disappointment!!

I am so impressed with all the help from everyone! kjwavy--I love the idea of combining a little of the lesser hold gel with the good stuff. I am going to have to try your hg BRHG. It's funny you mentioned the chi infra gel, I just saw that this weekend and thought about trying it. I'll have to give it a go. As I'm sure you all know, when everyday is a ponytail day, it's time to experiment again!!!
Ooo I am SO going to try mixing a strong hold gel with a slightl weaker hold gel. I'm really really tempted to get the BRHG as my hair seems to need uber strong hold in summer even when there's hardly any humidity in scotland. I'll be getting a few tubes of the SMU from a wonderful curly who's bringing them over, and I can't wait So will have to try this combo!

The SMU started to tighten up my curls within half an hour of applying it. I'd apply it, plop then usually as I airdry the curls stay straggly and hang low until completely dry then when I scrunch out crunch they pop out. But with SMU I had soooo many ringlets forming all round my face and underneath layer, they just coiled straight up. Thre must be a magic ingredient in there!

cleanse: OS shampoo. PureNuffStuff cleanser.
condition: Aussie 3MM. Jessicurl Aloeba.
style: B2Basics GreenTeaGel. T&G Curl Balm. JCarter Nourish&Shine.

I didnt have luck with the mousse or gel either. I thought it was just me. I had curls but a lot of poof. I need something else should I be using gel or mousse or both????
None of the new HE gels worked for me. They're basically all the same, & with a completly different hold ingred than the old HEHDG. It was like I'd put nothing at all in my hair. If I recall the only diff between BE & SMU is a small amount of differing herbal extract.

SMU didn't work for me either, my hair poofed like crazy. I've used gels that were way too weak for me before but this was different, I'm sure it must contain an ingredient my hair doesn't like.
