I want my curls back :(

Hi everyone! I used to post on this board a long time ago, not sure if anyone remembers me... I used to have 3B/3C curls. way back when I used to post..

I had Loreal Extenso done on my hair almost a year ago and my hair is STILL wavy (It's curly at the top where it's growing out...)

I have done Rusk Anti-Curl before and my hair gradually regained its curlyness after a few months. However, with the extenso my hair is still as it was when I had it done.

I've been looking at some old photos and I really miss my curls. What can I do to get my hair back to how it was, or is there no way other than letting it grow out? I don't want to cut it, as I've been growing it for ages now and it's almost Bra strap length which is a major achievement for me.

You will have to wait for it to grow back since these are chemical changes and can't be reversed. However, you can, to some extent, increase the curl/wave you currently have by using curl-enhancing products. Jessicurl Confident Coils, and Re:Coil are popular examples of this type of product. Mandarin Magic Jelly is very curl enhancing on my hair.

For a cheaper option, you can also use watered-down curl activating gel (they tend to be heavy and that extra weight can pull out the curl, but ingredients-wise they are great at increasing curl), though you'd probably have to also add a bit of strong hold gel, as these products don't tend to have much hold.

BTW, try to apply products on soaking wet hair-this results in tighter curls for me.
I don't have any helpful info, but HI! I remember you and missed you all this time. I thought of you from time to time and wondered how you were. I always loved your beautiful curls. You straightened them?! They were my idol! I think I still have a picture saved off that you sent me of your curls, when I was going to get a new cut.

So, what have you been up to? Do you plan to stick around here more? (I hope!)

I think I remember your hair! IIRC, you had the most perfect spirally curls ever!

You'll probably just have to wait for it to grow out though
Hi thanks for all the replies.
I used to be on here all the time when I was at university but I have since graduated and now have a job, so not nearly as much free time!
I'm pretty sure I remember you Curlilocks - your hair was similar to mine.

I figured I would have to wait for it to all grow out but that's going to take ages!
I've been using a curl enhancing spray which helps a little but it's also very drying. My hair feels like it desperately needs moisture. Would a protein treatment help at all?

Oh another problem is I haven't got much money at the moment so can't afford to be a product junkie like I used to be
I don't know how much you've made your hair straight, but if you start treating it better, and moisturizing A LOT, you may be able to get some curl back. Also, start styling it curly, and not straight, so you encourage it to curl more.

I think the main thing is trying to reverse the damage. The healthier your hair is, the better chance you'll have of getting it back to it's natural state.

Obviously you'll have to grow the chemical treatments out, but you may be able to get a little curl back.
