I wish I felt like I knew what the heck I'm supposed to do!!!

I am a newbie, and a little overwhelmed with all the information. My hair has always been long and straight with a little wave, but when I was a young girl I had Shirley Temple curls. I have just started CG to see if I could bring it back, and it is working...some. I am just on day 3, but still feel like I don't know what exactly to do. I have conditioner with the ingredients from her book...no-poo...still need to find a product that works for me. Gel makes it look wet all day, so I'll try something else.

Day 1, co-poo, gel, air dry. Hair looked wet all day.
Day 2, wet down at night, gel on wet hair, plopped while sleeping. Loved the definitine of the curl, but still looked wet all day due to gel (I think).
Day 3, water wash, gel/cream on wet hair, plopped while sleeping. Today, great definition on the sides, but the back is limp and lifeless.

It makes me want to scream! I know my hair is still adjusting, I just wish I knew what I was supposed to be doing to get it in the best shape. And I wish I understood enough to know if I was doing it right or not.

Thanks for the vent!
Try scrunching out the crunch when your hair is completely dry. That should help alleviate that wet look you don't like.

Or if that doesn't help, try just using some curling creme and skip the gel and see if just the creme gives you good enough hold by itself.

Boy, it really depends on the gel (and the weather, and the position of the stars, and what kind of mischief Britney Spears has gotten into).
