Ways to put up short curly hair...

I'm in the same boat with RozettaStone. Dang, girlies, I am so on the fence about whether or not to cut my hair short! Innyhoo, when my hair was just below shoulder length I was able to do a modified pin-back/scarf style by putting my hair in a messy bun and then arranging and pinning the loose curls around it on the back of my head. I let a few curls hang down in the front, then tied and pinned the scarf. (and if my stupid browser would work, I could add a link to a picture. Sheesh.)

Edit: Fotki won't load for me for some reason, but I think there is an example of this style in my "starting CG" album.

I would kill [okay, that's a bit strong.] to have your hair. It's gorgeous and I want long, pretty curls.
i just tried it and it didn't look cute on me at all , it looked terrible granted I didn't have the correct clip and I think i used a much bigger clump of hair. I'll maybe try again with proper clip and the right amount of hair.
What else would anyone suggest for my hair?

I tried this one today and I have to say... me likey . It was so easy to do and stayed very secure.

I didn't take a picture of the other side complete, but at the bottom I've added a shot of me twisting that side and then a final front shot. Hope that helps!

I should have just taken video...put here are some pics. My hair started out messy because I had just taken it down from being up with 20 pins all day.

These are the clips I use.

I grab a small amount of hair on top next to my part.

Then start twisting down, then secure with the clip.

Do it on the other side and voila!

I love the renaissance princess look -- similar to kurlykatie, but with less hair (my face is too round to pull too much hair back).

I take a piece of hair toward the top/front (I like to leave a few wispy curls in the very front) on one side and twist it (not with other hair, I twist it by itself). Sometimes, if it's the day before I wash, I'll braid the little piece of hair (I don't mind pulling out the curl). I pull it straight back so it's horizontal and pin it or temporarily clip it. Then I do the other side. If my hair is too short (I have a lot of layers) I pin each side as far back as it will go without having the end stick out, but if my hair is a bit longer I use an elastic and tie the hair together at the back a la Lucy Punch in Ella Enchanted.

I can't find a suitable picture, but hopefully you're all familiar with it!

ETA I found one!

Not exactly what I'm talking about, but it's similar... the one on top I usually do with more of a twist, and the one on the bottom the braid is super thick... my hair is so thin that my braid is tiiiiny compared to that one! It's still pretty though, and definitely a nice look for curlies who have beautiful long hair!

Hair type: Fine, fairly porous, shoulder length when curly. Probably a 3a or 3b with tight ringlets now that it's getting longer. Hair loves aloe, hates glycerin.

Co-Wash: Suave Naturals Aloe and Waterlily (my HG conditioner!)
Rinse Out: Garnier Sleek and Shine, Trevor Sorbie curl conditioner (UK only, unfortunately)
Stylers: KCCC, AG Re:coil, TIGI mousse, but open to suggestions!
Gels: BRHG (my one and only)

Sarahthewarrior: You have absolutely gorgeous hair!

Not that this opinion really means anything in the grand scheme of things, it's your hair, but I personally think you should keep your hair long.
I would kill [okay, that's a bit strong.] to have your hair. It's gorgeous and I want long, pretty curls.

And you're welcome. Curly bobs are fun, but I want to be able to have long curly hair which just isn't going to happen for me, I don't have the patience.

a question about the updo with all the bobby pins: how do you do the last part with the curls in the back? could you post pics or just explain it more? i'm really bud at understanding updos!
