Best Leave In With KCCC-read posts and did not find answers

I went through about I think all of the pages of posts on KCCC and I did not see this question answered. If it has been I am sorry. I did not want to repost a question that has been answered often so I did try to search out the answer myself.

I live in FL, what is the best leave in for using with KCCC? Do others besides KCNT work well?

Here are the ones I see on the site that people use. Since you have to use a good bit of a leave in if I could get one less expensive than KCKT that would be great:

Giovanni Direct
Giovanni Smooth as Silk
CJ Assurance (think this is costly as well?)
Mixed Chicks (Think this is costly as well?)

Could you please recommend a light leave in that you use?

Also if you Poo can you tell me what Poo or conditioner you use?

My hair doesn't need much for a leave in, so I use Jane Carter's Revitalizing Leave In. I know others use Giovanni Direct Leave In or Karen's Body Beautiful products (hair milk or hair nectar).

For shampoo, I use Kinky Curly's Come Clean once or twice a week. I wet my hair down everyday and rotate my conditioners. I use Jessicurl Too Shea!, Aubrey Organics Honeysuckle Rose, KCKT, and Aubrey Organics GPB.

Loose botticelli curls and waves
No silicones/no sulfates since March 2008
I dont think it's about the best leave in, but about the leave in that works for you. Lots of people use it with the Knot Today. I didn't have any of the KT so i use it with whatever i am experimenting with. Some people say it is moisturizing enough to be used with a light leave in. i always use a creamier leave in cause of my hair type just drinks everything up. people have had great results using a pudding such as Komaza under the KCCC. All in all, as i'm sure you have read, KCCC is very versatile and can be used over almost anything. So if you have been using a leave in that works for you, i wouldnt worry about pairing up something else with KCCC. Just use what you have.

I do a mixture of low poo, soap bars and no poo. depending on how my head feels. As far as rinse, i do a thick rinse out such as GVP Conditioning Balm or AOHR. Again, i use thick products cause my hair loves it.

i has no hair type? (medium, f-iii), normal porosity, LOW elasticity.
CG journey began 2/8/09 - 4-08-09.. and then mod cg 4/14/09 -... 03/02/10- Barely CG but I like CG products
wash with Low Poo or Poo
condition with GVP Conditioning Balm or CJ BC Daily, Loreal Color Vive for Color Treated Hair Thats Normal
Leave ins- Garnier S&S; Marrakesh oil
style with - Ohm SHP; KCCC- BRHG or Boots- KCCC- BRHG; CIAB; CCCC
Protein- GVP Joico K-Pak
Play with ACV
I thought in what I read lots of people said they needed to use a leave in with it or it was too crunchy? Maybe it depends on your hair?
It really does depend on your hair -- and the weather. As dew points rise, some curlies seem to be reporting that less leave-in works better.

Otherwise, I completely agree with burgundy_locks. Use whatever conditioner or leave-in works for you.
3a and strictly CG since August 2007. Porous and on the fine side. No to magnesium sulfate and glycerin. Yes to protein! Favorites:

AS I explained on a PM I would be happy to use the leave in I have now but it is expensive. I use AG Fast Food and it is about $18 a tube. I was hoping to find something less expensive to use if anyone has any ideas.

Thanks everyone for all the help!
I ran out of KCKT, so I'm trying new leave-ins with KCCC.

Right now I've got Lustrasilk under KCCC and some flax seed gel. I'll let you know how it goes.

But I've read somewhere that some people use all manner of leave-ins under KCCC with good results. It just depends on if a leave-in works for you or not.

I get reasonably good results with Lustrasilk, so I thought I would give it a try. You can't beat the price. You can get Lustrasilk in a few places, like drugstores and Sally's.
Anyone else having luck with less expensive leave-ins and KCCC?
I liked the results I got with Lustrasilk + KCCC. I used the Shea Butter/Cholesterol version of Lustrasilk.

It's not quite as curly/well-defined as KCCC+KCKT. But for less than $3 for a huge tub, I'll take it.

For something to really work for me, it needs to give me multiple day hair. So that part remains to be seen [I washed late yesterday, so today is like Day One and a Half]. But if I were someone who washed/got hair wet daily, I would be very pleased with the way it came out.

ETA: I also don't seem to get very good hold from flax seed gel, no matter how much I use. The lack of definition might be partially because of that, because when I experimented with KCCC+KCKT, I was using BRHG. [Have to control those variables!]

So I'm going to try this combo with BRHG next and see how that goes.

Sorry for the book! The short of it:
Lustrasilk + KCCC = promising!

I havent been able to find a leave in that I can use with kccc at all!! If I use a leave in (so far tried KBB Milk, KBB nectar, KCKT and normal conditioners) I get frizz at the crown/canopy/roots whatever you wanna call it.
My best hair day so far has been by using kccc completely by itself, or with just a little bit of gel.
What exactly is the purpose of a leave in anyway? Moisturise, define, hold??? Whoops, that might be a guano sorry!

I read that the leave in helped KCCC for absorbing so much moisture or something? Perhaps I am wrong about this? Maybe someone else can chime in with the reasons. It just seemed that most of what I read people recommended using one so I am still looking!
kazza186, for me a leave-in imparts moisture and without it my hair has no definition, no clumping and the curls are all just flyaway.

So, not everyone needs a leave-in. YMMV.

I have always used one, even before I started coming to this site. My hair scares me without a leave-in! So that's why it never occurred to me to try KCCC without one.

But I have to say, between this conversation and what Csarac is reporting in another thread, I'm starting to wonder if I should try KCCC without a leave-in as well. I wouldn't do this with just any product, but KCCC is truly unique, so I might give it a try.

Maybe someone else can explain it better.
Like everyone else, I don't think there is any one "best" leave-in to use with KCCC. Right now I'm using KBB Hair Milk but I also use AOHR. I think the issue with the leave-in isn't whether it works well with KCCC but whether it works well with your hair. I use LVPNG as my rinse-out, but the one time I tried to use it as a leave-in my hair felt disgustingly greasy and heavy. It felt like I hadn't rinsed or washed my hair in weeks but kept putting stuff in it. YUCK! LVPNG just isn't a good leave-in for me.

I don't use KCCC alone, though. It wouldn't hold in my hair. I always put a little gel over it, either B5 Design Gel or BRHG.

I don't use shampoo anymore, but I do use South of France natural soap bars once every week or two. My scalp gets really itchy and flaky if I don't. I think it's the salt residue from my water softener.

So perhaps my issue is finding a good leave in for my hair? The Fast Food works well but it is expensive. I think I need a lighter leave in for my hair. Perhaps someone could recommend a few I could try? I know I tried a Garnier one, not too thrilled with it. Also Beauty without cruelty, or something like that, also did not work well for me.
I haven't read the thread so don't know what texture/type your hair is. What works for me under KCCC:

- Abba Pure Gentle Conditioner
- KBB Super Silky
- MOP Leave in
- Mop Top Daily Conditioner
- Curl Junkie Aloe fix
- Curl Junkie Honey Butta leave in
- Lustrasilk cholesterol
- Robert Craig conditioner
- John Masters Citrus & Neroli conditioning leave-in

Also worked when I used it
- Beauty without Cruelty Leave-in
- Suave Naturals toasted something

Lots of stuff works with KCCC

Playing with my hair is a hobby. Fluffy, fine natural 4a. Goal= Healthy, beautiful hair that retains its length.
Hear that crash? It's me falling off the CG wagon.
Giovanni Direct Leave In works great for me
Brunette, almost BSL length, growing out.
CG since Feb 2008, modified CG since September 2008.

I now know my texture/porosity!! (TY, Tiffany!) Medium texture; ends on a porous side; new growth - normal porosity.

Wash: Suave; EO Sweet Orange shampoo

Conditioner: GVP Balm, Mango Lustrasilk

Styling: KCCC, BRHG and LA Looks

Want to try: CJ
hmmm, thanks wildHair. I still have a lot of experimenting to do so maybe I wont give up on the leave in yet. I've also just looked at dew points for the first time and they are really low where I am, which makes me think that I should be using a leave in (right??). I have Giovanni dli, might try this today with kccc...

The best leave-in I've used under it is Curl Junkie's Curl Assurance Leave-in. I get soft bouncy curls, with just a bit of crunch to scrunch out. I've tried KBB Super Silky and Hair Nectar, GDLI, and two different suave conditioners, and I really like the Curl Junkie one much better.
Mostly 3A, some 3B/2C fine-med texture/med porosity/low density

wash: alternate co-washing with V05 & soap bars
Rinse out: Rotate TJ's N&S, AOHR, LVPNG, GVP K-Pak, CJ CA Daily Condish
ACV rinses 2x/wk (high pH water)
LI: if I use one, it's usually CJ CALI CJ H&B LI, or GDLI
Styling: FSG with AVG, AN, hemp seed oil & slippery elm (winter only), KCCC, CJ CCCC, CJ SG, CJ AFG, AOMM & BRHG

Currently experimenting w/DM Miracurls CG & MM
I found that the KBB nectar and GDLI were great last summer, but no go for wintertime low dewpoints. I haven't tried them again yet. I, too, love the new CJ CA LI. Others that work well are AfroDetangler and Komaza Califa LI, Moisture Spray and Cream.
3a (Corkicelli), highlighted, fine, low porosity

HGs: Anything Sevi; Curly Kinks Satin Roots, Curlycue ReNew and Coil Jam; homemade FSG and okra gel; soap bars; UFD Curly Magic; Botanical Spirits Jellies, CJ Repair Me, Aloe Fix
