How can I prevent over conditioning?

This past weekend I applied a rinse out conditioner, rinsed, then applied my leave-in. My curls looked great. I loved my curl pattern. I only did this on Friday and Saturday. When I did my hair this morning I only applied the leave-in. My curls don't look so great. I really want to go back to using the rinse-out before my leave-in but I'm so worried about over conditioning. Is there anything I can do to prevent it?
I get over-conditioned too. I've completely quit using my leave-in, at least for summer, and I haven't gotten over-conditioned since I quit using it. I use a rinse-out about twice a week.

What's your hair texture? I have fine hair (it was a big surprise for me); and I used to get overconditioned very easily.

I switched to the protein-rich condish and this problem is gone.

Your hair may be fine with using both. Mine gets super dry if I DON'T use a rinse-out and a leave-in every time. I've been doing that for years and never had a problem with it being overconditioned. I would keep doing it until you start seeing problems, then adjust your routine based on that.

My current HGs:

Conditioner: Deva OneC
Leave-in: Shea M, Deva B'Leave In
Cremes: CIAB, pink Boots
Gels: BRHG

CG since 2/07 and loving it!
Do you co-wash too? That's what was causing problems for me. Nowadays I low-poo a couple of times a week and water wash every other day. By cutting out the co-wash I found I could use a rinse out and leave in every day (I don't get 2nd day hair) and I don't get over conditioned any more.

My key is rinse, rinse, rinse -- I cant use a leave in here in Fl -- not that it would matter -- i am in the ocean every day but if I condition -- I have to rinse it all out and then it's lovely!! Leave ins weigh my hair down and then products on top -- ewww -- flat as a pancake -- i have curls but I don't look good with plastered curls -- I like a little volume; fsg, ck, biotera gel, kccc, combinations of all of these not all at once tho are what works for me!!!.
