What guys really think of afros

A guy friend of mine made a comment on my hair a couple days ago. Then he told me that he has no idea why some girls don't like there natural (he said afro) hair and he thinks its sooo pretty. He was like, "who tf decided curly hair isn't just as beautiful as straight?" Even still, be curly not because of what other people say, but for ourselves. I don't think I hear that enough with all the pressure I feel to have straight hair.

I really don't care what men think of my hair whether it is positive or negative. I did this for me, not for validation from strangers of either gender. Compliments are nice to hear but I don't put too much value into them.

Worshiping Eurocentric beauty standards, whether consciously or not, impacts why curly/wavy/coily hair has been considered less attractive than straight. I'm glad the tide is turning.
