NEW! QOD max prime S-fiber

Hello there everybody!

There is a new product from my beloved QOD, formaldehyde free, formulated with glyoxylic acid. (glyoxyloyl carbocisteine and gl.keratin amino acids)

It;s more than 3 years that I haven't used any keratin treatments (I ve some leftovers of inoar but it's ubearable to use formulations with f/hyde anymore)
I want to switch to a safer option

Anyhow, I think I am about to give them ma money and grab it asap, cause Ive been very frustrated lately with my frizz.
I don't know what to expect with it

Forgot to add its aplication process wich is fairly different from most keratin treatments:

1: wash hair and blow dry
2: apply treatment
3: wait 30-50 minutes
4: rinse thoroughly with water and apply mask
5: blow dry and flat iron

done

If 'hydes bother you, this contains a 'hyde:

Oxoacetamide carbocysteine, also known as glyoxyloyl carbocysteine is an aldehyde/acid
CG since May 1, 2016
3a (at the moment), fine, thin, highly porous, no elasticity (bleach and heat damage)
most luck so far with KCKT and KCCC with a little jojoba oil to SOTC *tried diffusing! wow!*
LALSG for high humidity
SM Weightless Texture Spray for refreshing
gelatin PT 2x per week, DT 3x per week
I know f/hyde bothers me a lot, but I have no experience with other aldehydes.
But either way it requires good rinsing before flat ironing so the fumes( if any) would be minimal .
What were your results?

I'm gonna use it today, I have really tangly damaged hair, like I can't sleep the night without it looking like a nest in the morning, so I want to see if it does anything about that. Usually when I got BKT at my salon back home it would make it super silky and tangle free for about 4-5 months, but everytime I've done it in NY in the last couple years it's been smooth only for maybe a month. The last time, it wasn't even smooth the day after. The stylists always refused to tell me what products they used.

Really hoping this works! I don't have the full kit, so I'm substituting the mask for an argan oil mask I have-- I looked up the ingredients of the QOD mask they suggest and it's just a normal fruit oil deep conditioner. I'm using neutrogena's clarifying shampoo, my experience with it is that it totally strips my hair.
Hello there!

I have mixed feelings about this one. Even though I was not expecting similar results to my previous f/hyde based products, I was a bit disapointed.

It did not alter my hair pattern (3a) but it cut down the frizz and the amount of leave in I used a bit. I also feel my hair less dry, and straightening is easier now (my natural hair needed an over 210 C hot iron to get straight and after a few hours would be again frizzy.) After the treatment, 160 C are enough to achieve great straightening.

That being said, I did not follow the exact instructions to iron each strand 10 times with a 230 C hot iron. I lowered the temp. at 210 and did 4-5 passes. And I got split ends after the procedure.
That kind of heat is ridiculous, given that my previous treatments required only 4-5 passes of an approximately 200-230 C iron.

On the huge plus, there were no fumes AT ALL and I was very comfortable through the whole process.

I would really like to know your results Juniperandrose

Hi! & Happy New Year!

Thanks for sharing Bruchilda

Sorry this is gonna be long lol... but here is my story

I just washed it out of my hair and I'm pretty pleased with the results-- hair's not tangly and is very shiny and moisturized w/o any argan oil/leave in (my typical routine). It's also very straight with just air dry, instead of my normal wave. Definitely different from usual.

That said-- I also didn't follow instructions-- pretty much at all. To start with, I overused the product (I used 30 ml, but I think I really only needed 10 or 15 ml for my hair length and v thin hair type). I applied it with my fingers and a product spreading comb to 80% dry hair, changing the parting as I went along to try and get all the strands. I focused on my problem areas (behind ears) where hair is always getting tangled/sticking out. Application took about 15 mins and I left it in for 45.

After leaving it in, instead of washing it out like I was supposed to, I used a blow dryer and round brush to dry the product into my hair, and then applied a mixture of an argan oil hair mask, almond oil, keratin serum and a color deposit conditioner with brown dye. My reasoning was that the basicity of the mask must be to open up the hair shaft further and get even more of the product in the hair directly so that less ironing is needed. I also over applied this mixture and will do less next time.

I let the mixture dry into my hair, and then flat ironed at 240 without washing. My hair was pretty greasy at this point, which I'm pretty sure was not good. My flat iron technique was to do just 5 passes (btw, the smell was awful, the best way to describe it is that it was like a dead rat--but I'm pretty sure this was due to my ridiculous idea that flat ironing with the hair mask in would work).

The smoke never really stopped so I gave up after about 30 mins of flat ironing, and decided to rinse my hair with ACV (1/4 cup in 2 cups) and water. (I was hoping the ACV rinse would close the shaft and prevent me from washing out the keratin from the hair). Then I took about a teaspoon more of the QOD product and put it in my problem areas, blow dried, and then flat ironed another 10 mins. At this point, my hair was dry and matted, but not caked up; so I left it like that for 60 hours, washing just now.

I think next time, I'll use only 15ml of the QOD product, after 50mins followed (no heat or blow dry in the middle) with about 5ml of conditioner mixture thoroughly massaged in over about 5-8mins, then rinse it out with about 250ml cold water using a bulb in the sink. Then I'd take about a teaspoon QOD and apply to problem areas, blow dry, flat iron, and finally do a ACV rinse with a bulb in the sink, leaving it in for 2 days.

The treatmenct itself has a ph of 2 or 3 so it;s pretty acidic. The after treatment mask that you are supposed to apply after rinsing the treatment is also acidic (ph 3) so you whouldn't want to normalize the ph of the hair before flat ironing, in any way.

That being said, I also wonder whether I d had better results If I wouldnt have rinsed the product out before flat ironing.
I would suggest following the exact steps next time, without mixing anything else.
Did you actually fried a deposit only dye in your hair? haha
What is your hair pattern and texture? (fine/med/coarse)
ok, i did this a second time after 2 weeks since the first application.
Ive just washed my hair.
I am really disappointed, even the 2nd consecutive time, hair is frizzy again, not a solid 3a any more, maybe a 2c. Definetely need product to cut down the frizz.

I think I am going to flat iron it without rinsing it next time.
If that won't work either I will be literally crying over my 170 euro I threw away to buy this product.
What a freaking waste of money
