Am I plopping wrong?

It usually takes forever for my hair to air dry, so I decided to try plopping with microfiber towels since I read that it saved a lot of people on here some time.

First I plopped with the microfiber towel for about 15 minutes. Then I plopped with a cotton t shirt (forgot to buy two microfiber towels). I checked my hair after an hour...wet. After another hour, it was still wet. I decided to sleep in my plop and in the morning my hair was still damp!

Is it because I didn't use a second microfiber towel? (actually when my first towel dried, I switched from the t shirt to that and slept in it). Or maybe my hair didn't dry because it's pretty dense/thick and has a low porosity?
Thanks for the help!
Plopping cuts down on drying time but doesn't completely dry your hair on its own. I plop as soon as I step out of the shower and leave it on for 15-30 minutes. Then I air dry or if I'm in a hurry, I use a diffuser. If I don't plop, my hair air dries in 4-5 hours. If I plop, I cut that time in half. There are many curlies who double-plop or overnight plop with great results. I find that my curls get funky if I leave them in a plop for too long. It takes some time and experimenting to find what will work best for you. Just don't expect your hair to get completely dry while you are wearing a damp cloth.
3B, fine, normal to low porosity
