Help?? What do I do? What products do I need?

So, I tried doing the curly girl method and used baking soda and apple cider vinegar and everything and my hair was softer but A LOT of hair was shedding like when I conditioned my hair and combed wet it was so hard to get all the hair off my hands (ew!) So then I got yes to tomatoes volumizing shampoo and conditioner. I ordered it as a set cause it was cheaper and now that's what I use. I know the shampoo has coco-sulfate in it, but I just don't have anything better and I just can't keep putting baking soda and apple cider vinegar on my hair to wash all the crap out. I'm going back to college soon (in like 20 days!) so I really don't have time for that home remedy stuff. I did go to Target and got the Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curl & Style Conditioning Milk, Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie, Kinky Curly Knot Today and Kinky Curly Curling Custard. I just got them so they probably haven't adjusted to my hair yet. Yesterday when I used it I loved all the stuff. My hair was quite frizzy though... :/ And today I tried to do the second day hair and put some of those products in and my hair looks greasy.

My hair is 2b-2c, fine and I think normal porosity? And my hair was damaged before from heat products being used a lot at school and I haven't used heat at all this summer but it still needs help.
I love the Shea Moisture line. My hair is also fine, so I need to be careful about the products and the amounts. I low-poo with SM and use the conditioners as a rinse out. They are too heavy for me as a leave-in. I like Tresemme Naturals for that. For second day hair, I spritz with water (sometimes with some aloe vera gel mixed in). If I add more conditioner, I get limp and frizzy.

Frizzy for me usually means either over-conditioned or in need of a protein treatment.

Thank you!! Nobody ever replies to my posts. I must be putting too much product in my hair then. My hair can get greasy easy. Whenever I go to get a haircut they always told me not to use too much conditioner since my hair is fine, but this site is all about moisture so I wasn't sure what to do. I do think that I definitely need a protein treatment...and could use a really good deep conditioner once a week. What do you recommend for those?? I was thinking about ordering from curly kinks or curl rehab but those are pretty expensive...anything in stores that work really well for my hair type?
I've tried a number of different protein treatments but this one is my favorite: science-y hair blog: Recipes and Projects It's easy and cheaper than anything in stores or on line. You'll see it referred to as "IGirl's Protein Treatment" on these boards.

Most folks will say to follow the PT with a moisturizing one. I rarely do moisturizing treatments. My fine hair is prone to getting overconditioned. Use your judgement on your hair. If it feels good after the PT, go ahead with your normal routine. If it feels dry and brittle, do a DT. Too much protein can be reversed by loading up on moisture. The trick for us fine haired curlies is to find that balance between moisture and protein so we can stay ahead of the curve.

Hang in there! You're catching on!

Hi Mmyy23alxo! We're so glad you're here in our curlyworld!
I think after some testing and experimentation, you'll have it down no problem!
