New here and excited to finally know how to care for my hair

Hi everyone, I'm a 3a (sometimes 2c if my hair is really long). I've been pulling my hair back into a ponytail for most of my life, wondering why it's always so dry and frizzy, and suffering through damaging straightening treatments that don't even work that well.

The last straw was my most recent haircut. I had it blow-dried straight at the end (of course - that almost always happens). It looked great until the minute I stepped out of the salon. Within minutes, all I had was a huge puffball surrounding my head. The blow-drying destroyed my curl pattern, and the humidity and dew point frizzed everything out. No definition, no style, etc.

In desperation, I did an internet search for how to care for naturally curly hair, and ended up here. I found and read the Curly Girl book and have been reading the articles on this site as well as many forum posts. So much info, all of it helpful and fascinating.

Just bought a bunch of CG products, and am hoping I'll look like less of a madwoman now that I won't be parching my hair within an inch of its life with sulfate shampoos and too-infrequent, too-light conditioning. Looking forward to meeting and posting with everyone.
2c, fine, extremely dense, color-treated, high porosity.

CG since 10/12
Welcome bookgirl! I know how you feel - it is so exciting to think you can finally find a way to have pretty hair that won't be a disaster when you leave a salon.

Good luck - there's loads of information here. Post questions if it will help.

I love all the Curl Junkie products. Still experimenting with gels and curl creams. Still hoping for 2nd day hair....
