Products for the Curly Haired, Broke College-Grad?

Hey All,

I've been back and forth to NC since 2003 when I went natural. I have managed to maintain my hair successfully with a routine that involves Co-Wash, Air Dry and Low Heat Diffusing, and an array of products over the years. I've tried cremes, gels, and mousses. I scrunch and Pineapple with the best of them, but I did the Big Chop in 2009 and my hair hasn't been the same since.

My hair looks great to the non-curly observer, but for me, I know I need a trim and some new products. Finding a curly hairstylist has always been a pain, but that's another story that involves a glass of wine and a box of tissues...

I just looked at the ingredients on my products --LA looks gel, level 8, conditioner-Suave Rosemary and Mint---and Garnier Fructis Flexible Hold Hair Spray. They contain alcohol, cones, and other things I cannot pronounce....and it seems to be drying out my hair. I am between haircuts and don't see a haircut happening any time soon....

I picked up some SAMY products the other day--Curl Activator and mousse, no alcohol, but lots of cones.

I love CATWALK products, but the prices do not fit my budget.

I am on a very tight budget. Started a new job recently (yay!) but the paycheck leaves much to be desired. For me, I am very thankful for this increase in income, but designer hair products are still out of my reach.

Any miracle products that are not as harsh, but good for a hard-working curly girl? Preferably $10 or less. *Crosses fingers*

Type: 3b, Co-Wash, Air Dry or Low Heat Diffuse,
Pineapple at night, Scrunching extraordinaire!

Went natural in 2003 and haven't looked back since! I love my curls!

Many of us use drug store products. My favorites are Shea Moisture, Tresemme Naturals and Say Yes to Carrots. If you do a search for drug store products, you'll find plenty more ideas from other users. Here's a start for you:
3B, fine, normal to low porosity
Modified CG since June 2010
HGs: FSG, anything with glycerin, Tresemme Naturals conditioner, Curls Like Us cloths, satin pillowcases.
I'm very new to the CG method, but I'm a mom of 4 so I understand a tight budget. I've been using Suave Naturals for everything (co-wash, RO, & leave-in) and the Fructis Pure Clean gel for styling. Those are fairly cheap & available at any grocery or drug store. I've had great results so far.

I've also heard the VO5 Moisture Milks works great.
