Am l a 3b or 3c?
Hi, l'm new to this wonderful site and l'm just learning about what this all means to me! I think lm a mix of 3b and 3c as l don't quite fit into either. I usually wear my curly hair in pigtails and when down l twist it. I'd love to learn more about how to manage my hair without twisting and leaving it more natural. I like the twisting as it gives my curls some kind of control and l know what it will look like in three hours time... Curlmart has so many products l don't know where to start. In Australia we don't have all these amazing options. People are always amazed with my hair and are dying to touch it. I like it to be not crunchy as it looks artificial so l usually mix a pomade and a light glaze/ gel together for some hold when l wear it down. At the moment l have no every day product as it's been discontinued and lm devastated. My old product had a little hold but added lots of shine and was light in texture but a little sticky. I always style my hair when it's wet to trap in the moisture. Any suggestions would be super.. Dell.

Hi! I had a picture of my hair on my profile but now it's gone... Will try repost one but lm finding it difficult. My hair is curlier in some sections than others. I have lots of it and its quite dark as l've gotten older. It's so curly in some parts that it resembles 3c type hair but in other more spirally like 3b. If it was 3b it would be verging on c as its at the extreme end. It's hard to know what products would be right for my hair as l don't fall into either category! Does anyone know any good tutorials on different styling methods? I looked at a "plopping" video but my hair is too short for that technique. I just want to know how to get some control without always twisting it when wearing it down! Cheers, and thanks for replying to my message!

Dell :-)

Yay! The pic worked. Not a great picture of my hair but the only one on my iPad! I plan to get a few more accurate pics on here of my hair as soon as l can. Thanks, any suggestions would be fab!
- I have watched so many videos and it seems no one has my actual hair type. I know that sounds crazy but my hair is inbetween 3b and 3c. You would think that on a site like this the would be so many mes but there doesn't seem to be. Maybe lm just looking in the wrong places. Feeling lost in this right now. :(

Cute hair!! Awesome ringlets! Curl type isn't as important as porosity and texture, though, so I would focus on finding out what you're working with. I agree you're probably 3b-3c, but like most curlies we have a mix of curl types on our head including some straight pieces, at least for me, lol.

Live your ringlets! I'd say 3b, but im new here so i could be wrong. I find a lot of people are a mix...including myself, i was told im 2c/3a :)

Compared to many of the 3b pics I've seen here, I would say your curls are definitely tighter than typical 3b. Even throw the curls don't technically look "pencil diameter," I would say 3b/3c, but leaning much more towards 3c.

That is exactly right. My hair is different all over. The crown of my head is actually a lot courser hair. I do have a few straight crazy strands here and there too! This picture is not a great representation of my hair. It's a 'style' of many l suppose so l should put up some different pics.
How do l find out porosity and texture? I was reading about. Paul Michell product called curl swirl curl definer. Anyone used it? I also think l really need to stop shampooing my hair so much. The more it misbehaves the more l want to clean it but lm realising that's very bad. No wonder it's so try ATM! I never dye it, we'll lm not grey yet but l have one or two. I don't think this hair will look good going grey! So l my hair is in fairly good condition l assume because of this. I've ordered some new shampoo and conditioner without the nasties. I think l probably need a good leave in? And then an everyday product for naturally curly hair and then a styling product for when l want more control in the curl. I like products that add shine to my hair.
Thank you Chloe Mel and Corina! :-))

In most cases you can use your regular condish as a leave-in; just rinse it very lightly or reapply a small amount and use as a leave in.

There are so many products out there, it's a lot of trial and error. If your budget allows, it is fun to experiment. I wish I hadn't gone so crazy with buying things though, I feel some things I didn't really try to make work, since I had something else new to try right behind it.

I'd say 3c. And very pretty. :)
