Hey all....I haven't been on in a bit and have been trying products trying to find my HG--To no avail. What i keep finding is that every gel or cream i have tried either 1. turns white and flakey in my hair before it dries (i hate it---esp happened with deva products and curl junkie aloe fix was prob the worst for me). 2. leaves my hair feeling very dried out within hours (and forget about 2nd day hair). It feels like my hair is sucking it all up and i get left feeling very dried out (have tried many products to no avail--the best i have found so far is the Curls brand and i'm not even half way satisfied.

In a perfect world i need to find a really good conditioner (i have thinning hair due to a thyroid issue). I would say it is fine, 2b or 2c with medium to high porosity. I do not use any heat on it. I am looking for something to give me a little oomph in the crown area and moisture/gloss everywhere else......

does anyone have any suggestions on products to try. I was looking for botticelli babe to see what her flax seed gel was offering now but do not see her on here anymore? Anyone?

1. The flaking is often layering product combinations that are incompatible ingredients or pH wise. Some products apparently are fussier than others but they should all work within a brand, if not complain
2. Use far more leave in conditioner. Also check the ingredients to make sure that it is a true conditioner, a lot of people are using detanglers, pomades or stylers as leave ins which don't contain key ingredients like fatty alcohols and cationic surfactants
3. Etsy apparently shut down Botticelli Babe's store for poor service and complaints. I believe someone else is due to start up an Etsy store including flaxseed gel in a couple of weeks, she is a regular on the Wavy Hair Community on Facebook if you would like to join us.

Choose your ingredients and products based on your dew points/ humidity as well as your hair properties. In high or low dews too much in the way of humectants, especially glycerin, can dry hair out, in other dews they help moisturise the hair. Most fine hairs do well with hydrolysed protein. Beneficial ingredients for porous hair include coconut oil (don't overdo with fine hair), protein, ceramides and panthenol.
2a-2c, medium texture, porous/ colour treated. Three years CG. Past bra strap length heading for waist.

CO-wash: Inecto coconut/ Elvive Volume Collagen
Treatments: Komaza Care Matani, coconut/ sweet almond/ fractionated coconut oils, Hairveda Sitrinillah
Leave in: Fructis Sleek & Shine (old), Gliss Ultimate Volume, various Elvive
Styler: Umberto Giannini jelly, Au Naturale styling gelee
Flour sack towel, pixie diffuse or air dry.
Experimenting with: benign neglect
I have spent hundreds of $$ on hair products, and I am having the best luck with cheap gels and pricey conditioners.

My ultimate favorite gel is homemade okra gel. I also am loving Dep Sport, GVP liquid sculpting gel from sallys, and the LA Looks gels.

Flaking is something I do not tolerate.
2C/ Coarse/ Normal porosity/ SW Florida/ Salt & Pepper
Cleanse: AIA cowash, TJ Tea Tree Condish
Condish: JC Too Shea, Tresemme Botanique
Stylers: flax/okra gel or KCCC + CJ PP or JC Spiralicious
Experimenting with Got2B Ultra gel and loving it so far!
the flaking is horrible and so is the dryness!!!! It is unbearable and forget 2nd day hair--i'm lucky to get through a night and the longer the night goes on the worse it gets ;(

I appreciate your thoughts and hope that you guys will grace me with some other product recommendations! Good conditioner??? lets start there

I have tried many products (karens body beautiful--hated it, curly kinky aloe made my hair have flakes/white stuff as soon as i put it in, i have tried quite a few of curly kinky--didn't like any of them. i have tried deva--also causes flaking and didn't find the products to moisturize at all. Hairveda seems a bit too heavy for me (i have the ends hydration)! EVERY PRODUCT I HAVE FOUND SO FAR--LEAVES MY HAIR FEELING DRY A FEW HOURS LATER (the styling product i have liked the most--is by Curls and i don't love it and dry's my hair out).
-i enjoyed she scent it leave in conditioner, also darcys botanicals leave in spray and ADORE oyinhandmade juice and berries.

In a perfect world i'd love to find a shampoo, conditioner, leave in (spray or lotion) for everyday AND a gel that gives me some boost around the crown and shine/curl definition for the rest and something to seal the ends. I have tried quite a few products but do not know how to put them together into something that works for me......

Also--needs to have a good smell--love fruits smells which is why i think i love the oyin juice and berries
I was thinking (other curlies: if this is something bad, please warn me )... if you don't like the smell of something can't you add a drop of an essential oil with a fruit smell?

My hair type is 4a and my best curl activator with moisturizer and ultra soft results after having tried tons of products and spent $$$ is my $5-$6 Hawaiin Silky Curl Activator (pink one). It has glycerine but somehow it works on my hair regardless of weather. I live in Wash DC Metro Area. U can't find it easily so u may need to order online. Some mom and pop ethnic hair supply stores may have it. I say that since it is so cheap, you should try it even if your hair type is different.
