Do you know a good stylist in NC near the Eastern coast?
I am 31 and have been natural almost my entire life. However, when I was pregnant with my daughter I chopped all my hair off so I did not have to deal with maintenance of my long hair. After several years of keeping my hair short, I am trying to grow it out. I am not sure what my hair type is but I know I have low porosity, super dense, and course hair. I love my hair. I am wondering, I have never had soft or bouncy curls. I attribute this to the course dense nature of my hair. I have watched a lot of videos of naturals with similar hair types have hair that actually moves. I can be in a tornado and my hair will barely move. Is this normal? I have a photo if anyone can deduce my hair type.

This is my first post, I'm new to this online community but not to the lifestyle! I been totally natural for 1year and 6 months with shoulder length hair. My hair is 3c, fine texture, low porosity, low density. Strictly no parabens and no sulfates! I have flat ironed my hair three times this year and deciding to cut it out altogether. I feel like I reached my stuck stage and needed some assistance to get to my arm pit length goal. Sooo...Helppp!
Product List:
Prepoo DIY: oil mixture (coconut oil, avacodo oil, olive oil, peppermint oil, sunflowerseed oil, and/or grapeseed oil (small amounts each to make 1/4c. before any wash
Shampoo: AuntJackie's girl shampoo (once a month)
I am thinking about clarifying with acv and baking soda to cut out all shampoo..
Cowash: Cantu Naturals Cowash
DeepConditioner: AuntJackie's (every wash) or DIY avacado protein mix (once a month)
Leavin: AuntJackie's Conditioner
Styler: Aussie Gel or AuntJackie's Manetenance whip
Currently, I am doing GHE (greenhouse method/baggy)method. I will share more on this later. No combing either.

I think im a 2A wave, with low porosity i think, im not sure because after i shampoo my hair gets really dry and big and f;luffy but after 3-4 days of not washing it gets oily in the roots. And my hair if only wavy in the front and the back side less so. my wave stays only for a while after i wash it and slowly it turns into poofy. Everyone says 2A hair sticks close to head but that's not my case since i have thick and poofy hair. Im not sure where i fit in. Since my hair isn't as curly as everyone else's i was afraid using some of the products would make my hair greasy and weighed down. But i also wanted to start the CG method so i was wondering if anyone of you could suggest a start up product or list of few things i should may be try. I was thinking of the KCKT and KCCC since evryone has been raving about it, but everyone';s is super curly so im a bit reluctant.
After ive researched the Cg im planning on 1. Clarifying shampoo 2. after that start a Low-poo (maybe Shea Moisture)3. and maybe cycle it with co-wash (sauve natural coconut or as i am co wash) 4. leave in (KCKT or As i am ) and 5. styling (KCCC and the gel)

These are my tentative plan. Please suggest any product that might help. Tell me if some might be heavy and also when you use gel does it harden the hair?? Thank you

Hello
I'm new here I got a 3b texture that I keep relaxed by not washing off my conditioner, rarely use shampoo, and use copious amounts of olive oil and occasionally mix in some honey.
Also I got my first detangler brush it is amazing.
Hi Curlies!!

I've been curly since being a curly towhead at 3. Through the years I've the along with the popular styles, the Farrah Fawcett 'wings' which required straightening with a blow dryer. I never knew how to quite allow my natural curls to just 'be'. I went through a total straightening with flat iron for a couple years. In the last couple years, I started using products tailored to curly hair but they always left it frizzy and not very soft. Out of convenience I started letting it air dry or diffused. Still the mouse left it crunchy. When I found Loreal's sulfate free s products I started to notice a difference in the softness but still had frizz. Had it cut short and straightened it. The stylists would oooh and ahhh over my natural curls but never helped in the end.

I don't remember how I even found this site or system, but I've been immersed in reading, researching and figuring out my hair type. I'm a C2, and decided to do some shopping. Today is the first 'real' day I've followed the CG method. I know we all make it our own. But my hair today is amazing!! Tonight I'll pineapple it, already bought the satin pillowcase.

I started with a pre-poo of simple VO5 moisture milks strawberry & cream conditioner on the 4 part hair sections. Left it on about 5 hours. Got into shower, rinsed & detangled with my fingers. Amazed at how soft my hair felt! Then I washed with I Am As I Am co-wash. Rinsed out and put on Shea Moisture coconut & hibiscus curl & style milk leave in. Last I put on Garnier Fructis Style pure clean styling gel extra strong hold 3. (No silicones) Used praying hands, bent over & scrunched till most water was out. Plopped using the only cotton T I have so far, its short sleeved but big enough to tie & keep on my head easily. Got most moisture out that way, took it off & scrunched some more using the T shirt. Let it dry about an hour. Treated myself to a new blow dryer with diffused and bent over using the diffuser on low. It's cold here and I had to dry it but I'm glad I tried the diffuser in a scrunching motion because the whole routine left my curls defined, super soft, shiny and happy!! Like I said tonight I'll pineapple and see what happens in the morning. I mixed a spray bottle with some water, VO5 conditioner and Shea moisture. Planning on using that to refresh in the morning.

I'm SO glad t have found this method! Sure it takes a bit more work than just shampooing & conditioning but WOW is it worth it! I think I was lucky to have read enough to get the right products for me from the start!

Thanks for all the information and allowing my natural curls to look better and more healthy than I've ever seen it--in 57 years!!!

I'm very new here, but not to curly hair, lol. I think I'm mostly a 3A with a bit of 2C and 3B added in to be confusing. My hair is thick, low porosity, and high density. I can't figure out how to add a pic to my profile, but hopefully I'll find some help here to figure out these dang frizzies.
Wavy gal from Calgary, Alberta, Canada... I think so at least.

I used to be a curlie as a child, but growing up, I did a lot of things to my hair trying to straighten it to fit in better with the kids at my school. Used a clothing iron to straighten my hair and burned it a lot. Then I used box dyes to change the color of my hair, did that for years (along with use of a real hair straightener after I was able to buy my own).

I am growing out virgin hair now after years of abuse, and I am seeing ringlets... I know hair can be different textures, but I feel my textures are all over the place. I have 2A, 2B, and 2C waves, along with a few actual spiral curls that also vary, most on the 3A side of things (looser spirals) and a couple 3B ringlets.

Is that normal to have so many different textures? Either way, I am on this site to get as much info as possible. Been on the CG method for some time now, and I do have to say my hair has changed a lot since I've grown out my virgin hair. I just haven't found a wavy with so many textures as of yet for reference lol.
Hola, all.

I am Afro-Puerto Rican and my parents raised us using only natural ingredients in our hair. We all always had very long hair regardless of our varying hair texture coarseness. Once I left the nest I started relaxing and coloring my hair. That's when the hair drama began. It would break off then I'd have to cut all my hair off to even it out. Only for me to relax or color or sometimes both but never simultaneously and it to break off again. This has been my song andndance for many years.

Finally, enough was enough and stipped relaxing and coloring my hair a year ago. This summer I did a big chop because my hair had gotten so choppy. This is when I really got into natural haircare and have learned so much. Now my hair regimine in Braggs apple cider vinegar for rinses 1-2 a month and Micmas Remix that I get from MicMas ReMiX or Amazon. I alternate using Micmas Remix's scalp treatment and deep conditioner ever week. My hair is now at it's healthiest! I don't have dandruff or breakage issues anymore. Plus, it's growing much better. I'm here to learn more as well as share my hair growth journey.

Hey guys! I am new to this forum, and hopefully by being here I can learn more about my hair.

I need help, however.

I have a survey for my advanced scientific research class that is directed primarily towards African American Women and it is about natural hair and self esteem! I was hoping you guys could help me out by taking a minute to fill out my survey. I would appreciate it so much! Thank you guys!!
