I started seeing Cristin when she was at Arte Salon, and I followed her to Takamichi. Four times a year from 2008 to 2012, I received wonderful haircuts from her. She knew exactly how to cut my hair, when to stay short, when to grow it out. She is a wonderful stylist. My last two haircuts with her were canceled at the last minute due to scheduling problems, so I had to re-book them. I didn't consider that a problem. At that time.
I moved out of the country, and returned to the US in May 2013. I hadn't moved back to New York, but planned a trip to New York in July 2013. I was in a commercial, and needed to get my haircut for the commercial. I checked with the salon when booking that Cristin's schedule was OK, and no changes on the horizon in her schedule. I was assured it would be fine.
One day before my haircut, I got a call that Cristin was canceling my haircut due to an emergency. I asked if someone else at the salon could cut my hair. I was told no. This cancellation was the third time in two years, and left me scrambling for a cut less than 24 hours before the commercial. When I moved back to New York in October, I changed stylists and salons.
If you can have some flexibility in your schedule in case she's not available, definitely see Cristin. You'll receive a great haircut from her.

Cristin fixed the horrendous haircut that I stupidly gave myself! I like what she did better than any other haircut I have ever had.
She cuts hair differently - I don't know how to explain it. Sort of with the point of the scissors but not razor cut. My hair had to be cut very short because I had butchered it - but it's so cute and growing in beautifully.
I've only gone once - often I like a cut the first time and then don't like what the stylist does subsequent times, so we'll see, but I'm very hopeful. She got terrific reviews on this site which is why I picked her. A delightful person as well. Go Cristin!

NO! I just called and they said Kim is moving to New Orleans! I'm so sad. Just one more reason to move there I guess, although I'm sure the humidity would be horrible on my curls.
Anyhow, Kim is wonderful. I followed her from he previous digs on Elizabeth St to Takamichi, and she was so helpful, skilled and intuitive. Before Kim I had boring, simultaneously lanky and frizzy hair, and she realized my full curl potential. I can't tell you what she did for my self esteem! If she ever comes back to NYC, go to her.

I have struggled most of my life with my curls. Always had a hard time finding a stylist that understood my hair until I found Cristin at Takamichi. She carefully sculpts my curls into a cut that lasts for months. It grows out so well and I am constantly getting compliments! She helped me find a styling routine that is easy and works beautifully. Salon is in a lovely loft space with lots of light. So happy to have found a talented stylist that understands my hair!

I went to Kim after doing my research on this website, and the research really paid off. I showed up 20 minutes early and was prepped right away. It's a really nice airy salon, and lots of stylists with curly hair! Kim worked fast on my hair and really knew what she was doing. I can honestly say I've never had my curls look so good, or that I've had a stylist that embraced my curls so fully (I have serious 3b curls, fine and a lot of it). Got a great summer cut now and I can't wait to wear it around!

For most of my adult life, finding a stylist has been hell. My hair is difficult, to say the least, being curly, thick, and fast-growing, and no stylist has been able to work with it. I always end up with bushy hair that I have to wrestle with. But Cristin was great. She understood what I wanted - an easy style that would let me wash it and go without much effort, and took the time to show me how to get my flater top to match my curlier ends. Totally recommend her to anyone.

WOW! Thank you...Cristin. I love my new curly cut! After going to Institu and having the worst cut, I needed a fix. Cristin is the best stylist! She listens and gave me the young, hip and edgy cut I was looking for. Unfortunately, I had to spend more money to fix what Institu had done. I will have to say that I found my dream stylist! I will be going back in Arte Salon for all of my future curly cuts!!

I just got done with my appointment with kim, and i am sooooo thrilled. I had originally made it with cristen but she was sick that day so the receptionist told me kim was also good at curly hair. i think it was a message from the hair gods because this was the first time i felt someone knew how to handle my hair. i have been to salons where the hairdresser tried to get other stylist to do my hair, i even been to couple of other salons recomended on this site but this was the first one i felt like she knew what to do with my 3b/c hair. GO TO THIS SALON, you wont be disapointed!

I got a cut a few days ago at another salon that I really was not happy with. I went to Cristin hoping she could fix it. She did a fantastic job. I'm extremely happy with the results. She's really great at both listening and making suggestions as well. I'll definitely be going back to her again. The salon itself is very comfortable, and the staff is very friendly.

I have followed Kim from one salon to another for the past few years. This salon is my favorite--it's very homey and comfortable. They offer you a drink (water, wine, or even scotch!) upon your arrival, and the staff seems happy, content, and provides excellent service. It's more like being in someone's house for a get-together than a salon. As for Kim's expertise, I can't say enough. She gives me terrific, chic haircuts every time. I've gotten more compliments from strangers since I started going to her than ever before in my life. People actually comment on how much they love my curls, to the point where I feel slightly embarrassed--but also very flattered, and ultimately more confident. As anyone with curly hair knows, it's all due to having the right cut.

Kimberly gave me an awsome haircut for my fine, curly hair---very cool broken apart layers that fall perfectly. She also gave me a few easy tips on how to keep my curls less frizzy at home. Highly recommended!

I heard of Cristin from this website. I went to see her on a trip to NYC, and she is fantastic. My hair was dry and dull and she brought the curls back to life! She gave me a cut that suited my hair type, and gave me tips on how to style my hair at home. Hair looks absolutely great. She also did a treatment on my hair, which did it a lot of good. Extremely friendly as well.
