After researching salons I could trust with my curly hair (btw my curl type is 3B), I found Rae Allen at Jose Luis Salon!
So the salon website currently has a lookbook that features curly hairstyles, so that first got me intrigued. I was looking at the team, as soon as saw Rae's profile, especially that she had curly hair....I was sold. After researching salons I could trust with my curly hair (btw my curl type is 3B), I found Rae Allen at Jose Luis Salon!
So the salon website currently has a lookbook that features curly hairstyles, so that first got me intrigued. I was looking at the team, as soon as saw Rae's profile, especially that she had curly hair....I was sold. There's just something about hair stylists with curly hair that just gives me an instant sigh of relief. After researching salons I could trust with my curly hair (btw my curl type is 3B), I found Rae Allen at Jose Luis Salon!
So the salon website currently has a lookbook that features curly hairstyles, so that first got me intrigued. I was looking at the team, as soon as saw Rae's profile, especially that she had curly hair....I was sold. There's just something about hair stylists with curly hair that just gives me an instant sigh of relief. Curly hair girls know its difficult to truly trust straight hair stylists to put the same T.L.C as a stylist with curls (they just know/relate to our struggles).
And Rae did not disappoint!

After researching salons I could trust with my curly hair (btw my curl type is 3B), I found Rae Allen at Jose Luis Salon!
So the salon website currently has a lookbook that features curly hairstyles, so that first got me intrigued. I was looking at the team, as soon as saw Rae's profile, especially that she had curly hair....I was sold. There's just something about hair stylists with curly hair that just gives me an instant sigh of relief. Curly hair girls know its difficult to truly trust straight hair stylists to put the same T.L.C as a stylist with curls (they just know/relate to our struggles).
And Rae did not disappoint!

After researching salons I could trust with my curly hair (btw my curl type is 3B), I found Rae Allen at Jose Luis Salon!
So the salon website currently has a lookbook that features curly hairstyles, so that first got me intrigued. I was looking at the team, as soon as saw Rae's profile, especially that she had curly hair....I was sold. There's just something about hair stylists with curly hair that just gives me an instant sigh of relief. Curly hair girls know its difficult to truly trust straight hair stylists to put the same T.L.C as a stylist with curls (they just know/relate to our struggles).
And Rae did not disappoint!
My hair was long over due for this appointment. Rae consulted me about what I wanted (just short cut and highlights),but went the extra mile to make sure we were on the same page about the length, the shape, and addressed correcting my hair color (PSA: never let friends color your hair, leave that to the professionals, like Rae, I apparently had a bad case of "hot roots").
Rae colored, highlighted, and cut my hair into head full of fierce locks and curls. She answered all my curly hair maintence questions and gave me some much needed curl advice (I retired my flat iron last year, I'm still learning who to love my curls properly).
Also, she is so chill, friendly, and easy to talk to.... by the end of the appointment she was basically my therapist (I was spilling all the tea).
I'm super excited to say I've officially found my curly hair specialist!

Tired of feeling misunderstood? Tired of the false start ... this is the one! Then after the second or third cut, yuck? You make a suggestion--try this? And they don't listen? They cut your hair as if it were straight? Then you have to start somewhere all over again? If you're sick of it, go to ANGELA VEGA at Jose Luis Salon in Austin. I have never had a stylist who asks so many questions, and really listens to you--what you want, what your goal is. And who actually works--I mean really works--to get it right. My hair has not looked this good, no joke, in about 35 years. Not just strangers, but my nearest and dearest all say, "You hair looks better than it ever has." Her secret? She was trained by a kinky-headed guy who taught her curl basics. And she has taken it from there. Go for it! (Just don't take my spot...)

Angela WOHOO!! She is simply amazing. She has saved my hair and helped me fall in love with my curls all over again. She took over processed dry dull frizz and turned it into beautiful lite spirals full of life and body. I have been going to her for several months, and wouldn't go to anyone else. Theresa did a final blow out on my waves, and she enhanced my natural curl definition by only using a round brush to create a very sleek and bouncy wave. I received so many compliments that she deserves all the credit. She was super personable and friendly.

Rick performed a Shu Uemura hair ceremony to bring back the life and luster to my hair. This experience is truly amazing, if you have not tried one - check out the Shu Uemura experience. Rick did a fabulous job.

Alisha did a great job at styling my hair. She spent extra time drying and brushing out the curls so that I could have the old hollywood look. Loved it!
