Amazing. I highly recommend this salon. I had long curly hair, down to the middle of my back and decided I wanted a big change. I cut my curls to my shoulders and got some layers to add volume. I was terrified for the change but it turned out fabulous. I went to this salon after reading the reviews and couldn't be happier. Bring in a photo to show what you want done it can make explaining a lot easier. Their product is amazing and they also give many helpful tips on how to care for your hair and how to keep the the curls perfect. Overall this salon defiantly earned a 5/5.

Don't be fooled, by the positive reviews, as one of them was mine. I had this place all wrong. I went in for a "curly cut" and was charged $35.00 after she literally picked up two or three of my curls, cut the ends and then she was done. When I asked questions she was RUDE!!!!!! Not only was this NOT a curly cut, it wasn't even a haircut.

I had read all the reviews here and really wanted to get a stylist that could cut my curls and make me look good, so I had my first appointment with Eric today. I am SOOOO impressed! He really listened to what I was looking for and shaped my hair Beautifully. He cut each curl individually and taught me a few ways to encourage my curls that I didn't know before. The products all smell intoxicating and no one was pushy to buy them. while my hair had conditioner soaking in it he massaged my scalp and gave me a complimentary facial towel, high pampering for me! It was wonderful and I was so relaxed! The best part is that after 6 months of hard work taking care of my curls, I finally feel like my hair looks it's best! Eric made me look gorgeous, and my husband was impressed with my cut as well. I feel confident about my hair for the first time in YEARS, I will never get my hair done anywhere else. You have a loyal customer here! :)

I am going to be the first to give a review to Eric :-) I just got home from my very first appointment with Eric at The Hive Salon. He is new to the salon and was the first to have an opening. He is the best! I can't rave enough about Eric and the salon! I have always had a really hard time finding a place that can TRULY cut curly hair and not make you buy your product. This is the place to go to. They take the time to really talk to you about your curls and your hair. He really listened and described what he thought would be the best way to help my curls look great. The place smells like burts bees, which is the best way for me to describe it. They cut your hair dry and by each, individual curl which was a new experience for me. They even talk to you about how to really style your hair at home to get the best results. They have this realistic, family feel the minute you walk in. So if you are someone who is grumpy or not very positive, the hive is not for you. There is a lot of talking, visiting and laughing loudly. I can't wait for my color appointment with Eric in two weeks. He really understood how I felt about my hair and was really easy to talk to. Thanks so much Eric and The Hive! You made my week! curlyboxermom!

This salon is great for people with wavy/curly hair! I had had good haircuts from someone in Ithaca, NY where I did my undergrad studies (the salon she was at has since closed). I have gone to two other stylists in Minnesota (Twin Cities area), and neither was great at shaping my curls. My most recent place closed, so I started looking for a new salon. I was really excited for my first cut with Becca today. The salon has a comfortable feeling, and Becca just did an excellent job. I'm so excited to have my curls back!!! She started by talking to me about what I wanted to have done, and then she started with a dry cut which I was exciting to see the results of. Then, she used apple cider vinegar to cleanse the product from my hair without shampoo (something I think I'll try at home...I can't afford a lot of different pricey products, but apple cider vinegar I can do). She then worked a natural conditioner through it and massaged my scalp. She used a light gel on it while it was still wet. Since I don't usually diffuse my hair each time I wash it, she sat me under the dryer for a while. Then she diffused it the rest of the way until it was dry and trimmed a few more pieces. She offered to clean up any stray curls that I might find in the next 2 weeks as I style it myself. Let me also mention that this place is affordable especially in comparison with other salons in the area (and I'm speaking as a grad student who doesn't make much money). I will definitely be back!! I've been a client of Becca's for almost five years. She has always given me excellent haircuts. She humors my styling whims and I leave looking fabulous. Also, she's very nice and pleasant to talk with while working her magic. My curls are each clipped individually, she pays very careful attention to my overall silhouette. The Hive Salon itself has fantastic ambience. Their products, which are as close to all-natural as you can get, smell fabulous and leave my hair looking beautiful. The cuts are very reasonably priced and high quality. I highly recommend scheduling an appointment with Becca (or Jen) as they're both talented.

Jen Cortez has very poor customer service skills. Jen is very accusatory and does not take responsibility. She is lacking in many areas such as listening, showing empathy, using offensive terminology, and more. For more information, Google CitySearch and read the review there. I would not support her business due to her lack of customer service skills. In addition to her poor customer service skills, she did not seek to save our business relationship. I do not recommend salons who give poor customer service. There are so many other salons to choose from.

I recently went to The Hive Salon for the first time. For me it was a huge risk as I have had far too many bad haircuts in my 40 years by people who claimed to be great with curly hair. For the first time I found a stylist who really did know curly hair! Jen was thorough, walked me through the process and treated my hair individually, and not like anyone elses. Additionally, since I am finally going back to wearing my hair curly on a full time basis she showed me how to add product, dry and what not to do as well. I plan to go back.

Wonderful! This is the first time I have ever had my hair cut by someone who truly understands curly hair. Jen allowed ample time for me to answer any questions that I had. Upon arrival she asked about the goals I have for my hair, and my concerns. She looked at my hair prior to cutting it to check my curls, texture, condition. She then cut my hair, dry, one curl at a time. This is the most unique hair cut I have ever had. She explained everything she did. She washed it after the cut and walked me through how to apply product and drying techniques for my hair. I could not be happier and I plan to go back. I have had many people tell me they can cut curly hair and I have ended up with terrible hair cuts. Not this time. She clearly stands out and absolutely understands curly hair...cutting, styling, drying, product.. She rocks.

This is by far the best salon I've ever been to. I always thought as long as you were using a salon brand shampoo/conditioner and products, your hair would be in the best possible shape it could be in. I was mistaken. The products at The Hive are natural products that will not damage your hair. I have gotten so many compliments on my hair every time I leave their salon. The color is perfect, the styling is perfect and the products are amazing! My hair looks and feels soo much better than it did before. I really don't think you could find a better salon. Becca is an amazing stylist who listens to exactly what you want and makes sure you are 100% happy when you leave. She even shows me styling techniques so I can get the curls and waves she gives me in the salon at home. I won't trust anyone else to touch my hair!
