I heard such wonderful things about the Do You Naturally Salon. Everyone seems to have had a wonderful experience. When you read about the level of service and professionalism on their website, it makes you really excited. For some reason, I did not fit into their "mold" and I did not have such a good experience. First off, there is a mandatory consultation for $50- no problem there. The day of my appointment, about 1.5 hours before, they wanted me to come in ASAP. I was surprised by this because of all of the "professionalism" they spoke of on their website. I oblige them and come in early and there is another person there for a consult as well. This is after reading on their site that each customer will have their undivided attention. I wanted to ask if both of us were going to split the $50 fee since there were two of us. Then, they spent most of the time talking to the other patron. I don't feel like i got what I needed from my consultation and therefore didn't leave a tip. I set an appointment to come in two weeks later. Again, they tried to change my appointment to a time that was not convenient for me. When I arrived (albeit about 11 mins late) I was greeted with great rudeness from the owner that greeted me, not with a "hello, how are you" but with "while you're frontin', you had 4 minutes left." She was rude to me the entire appointment. I thought maybe it was just her personality to be brusque with her patrons- so I let her make it. There was another patron in the chair getting her hair styled. Again, I didn't have her full attention. I was there for a wash and style. My hair was washed with Suave and Herbal Essences- both drugstore grade shampoos. I have better products at home. I got an extremely substandard haircut- by the way as a licensed hair-braider (not a cosmotologist), and she is not licensed to give haircuts or do hairstyling (I will address that with the state of TX very soon). She used a comb on me that was not sterilized that was being used with the other patron in the shop. Again, the other patron had most of her attention. When she did talk to me- she gave great advice on some items I can use on my hair. Her brief inspirational discussion gave me confidence to wear my natural hair. She gave me a "haircut" and used this tool called a "Nudred". My hair looked pretty good when I left the shop. I set an appointment for 2 weeks later and gave a $20 tip....hoping that would smooth things over and improve her attitude toward me. Two hours after I left the shop....my hair looked horrible. I felt like I spent $70 on a Suave wash and a bad haircut. I sent her a few emails pleading with her to help me with my hair...to which I received no response. It contained constructive critcism, but I was polite about it. It stated my version of events above and tried to get her to On the website, it states they will respond to emails etc. during business hours. The other day, I went online to update my appointment and found it missing. I didn't think anything of it and I rescheduled the appointment and sent a follow up email with a list of questions and items I wanted to discuss during the upcoming appointment. My appointment was denied and I was told I didn't need to come into the shop. I was offered a bill and she would send me the answers to my questions electronically. Alot of the questions required a visit in person. I have never been treated like this by any service provider. I'm 42 years old and that's really saying something. I have never took the time out to review a business. After the way I've been treated by Do You Naturally, I feel compelled to do so. There is NO REASON for poor customer service and then not trying to "fix it". I've tried to extend the olive branch to Ms. Veola several times...and she doesn't want to take it. I guess I'm not part of the "Do You Naturally" mold. I won't be insulted by her anymore and will take my business elsewhere. I really try to support African American businesses- being an AA entrepreneur myself. I'm really sorry I couldn't get the service that others have been raving about. I won't force myself on anyone that doesn't want my business. Tiffany, her assistant, is a total sweetheart. Sorry we couldn't work things out Veola! I know you're capable of doing good work and providing excellent service, I've seen you give it to others, I guess I wasn't worthy. Good luck to you with your future clients!

I've had the pleasure of having my hair done several times by Aunt V..:) She's more than a stylist. She's a hair mother. From the moment she asks permission to touch your hair to the extensive amount of time she puts into her consultations, you know you're at a salon that cares about you and your needs. Anyone lucky enough to get an appointment with Veola better consider themselves blessed. She's booked up 2 months in advance and possibly 5 months depending on the time. Her clients are spoiled from root to tip and I LOVE IT.. If you're in the Austin area and go anywhere else, you will know your hair was not cared for. There is only one option when in the Texas area and that's Do You Naturally..:) SistersWithBeauty..:)

The salon has a pleasant atmosphere. I have been blessed by Veola service for a little over a year and her service is beyond the care of my hair but she cares for her clients overall being. My appointments are time for therapy.

Love visiting Ms Veola and getting my tresses loved on very gingerly. Ms Veola loves what she does and creates some of the BEST and cutest styles. She loves you from the inside out. One of the best features about Ms Veola and her salon is she DOES NOT play musical chairs with her clients. Each client is afforded their own time and she lets no others interfere with her one on one time with her client. That's special, very special. She knows how to time herself and make sure that she's ready for her next scheduled appointment and yet not rush the current one. I'm thrilled to know and be pampered by Ms Veola and wouldn't trade her services for the world! She's the best.

Veola is the consummate professional. She cares about more than just your hair; she works with you from the inside out. She takes her time getting to know you as a person before even touching your hair and makes sure you are comfortable with her recommendations before leaving the salon. She is always more than willing to share information, tips, and recommendations and you never feels rushed when you are in her space. You are truly the center of attention and her focus is on you. She does not push product on you and encourages you to branch out with your hair. I have never felt as comfortable with a stylist as I do with Veola. She is always on time and never overbooks. When she says she wants to love on your hair, that is EXACTLY what she does, loves your hair. The best part is you will learn to love on and fall in love with your hair as well!

Veola is very patient and gentle with my hair and my preferences. She only provides services to one client at a time. Her salon is very comfortable and relaxing. I wish there were more beauticians like her that would truly appreciate natural hair for African Americans.
