Learning how to wrap your hair takes a lot of trial and error, especially if you want consistent results. Rocking head wraps are not only fashionable, but they are also the easiest and quickest protective style that shields your hair from elements like inclement weather and friction with clothes. Plus, you cannot beat a 1-2 minute styling time.

When wrapping your hair you always want to start with a satin or silk scarf. If you cannot find a large, decorative head scarf that is satin, then cover your hair in a satin bonnet or scarf before wrapping it in your cotton head scarf. This will prevent your decorative cotton scarf from withdrawing moisture from your hair, which can lead to dryness and breakage.

Want to get more stretch from your twist out or braid out? Wear a head scarf for 1-2 days prior to unraveling your hair. Allowing your twists or braids to set will warrant longer lasting curl definition. After you have installed your twists or braids, use bobby pins to gently secure them to your scalp in an overlapped fashion to enhance the stretch. Ensure that your hair is laying flat. No one wants lumps in their head wrap. Rocking a tapered cut? Watch how pRoy styles her turban from beginning to end.
