Oscars is one of the biggest nights in Hollywood to celebrate our favorite films, actors, and – let’s be real – their Red Carpet style. Though our predictions were right, with only a few women rocking textured hair, the few that did came to slay and we’re here for it! From the beautiful hair and jaw-dropping gowns, what we appreciate is the ways in which award shows continue to highlight the power and brilliance of women in media. Check out these fabulous ladies who graced the red carpet rocking their crown boldly and unapologetically.

Betty Gabriel

How stunning does Betty look in this teal deep plunge ball gown serving from every angle? Love her soft waves, it’s so effortlessly beautiful. Congrats to Jordan Peele, the writer of Get Out, for winning Best Original Screenplay, well deserved.

Lupita Nyongo

Lupita has such a regal eleganance about her and that’s why we love her. She’s constantly serving #naturalhairgoals in films, magazine covers and on the red carpet. This updo and gown is no exception, as it’s simply perfection. #WakandaForever

Viola Davis

Viola Davis at the Oscars 2018

Hold on, wait a minute Viola! We weren’t ready for this ultimate slay! Viola takes the crown for the best dressed by far, dripping in melanin. Also, who tuned into the How to Get Away with Scandal premiere? There’s nothing like seeing powerful women coming together to create greatness and they most definitely did that

A few other moments that made our hearts jump were when Common and Andra Day performed, Jordan Peele won the Best Original Screenplay for Get Out, becoming the first African-American to win that category, and the most iconic and hilarious duo of the night was Tiffanny Haddish and Maya Rudolph reminding us that we can kick our shoes off at the Oscars and simply be ourselves even it if means repeating a favorite dress, do what you feel and remain true to that.
