sock knitters: short row heel

Hi all,
I have a really quick question. Is there a way to have my knit side wraps be as neat as my purl side wraps. I don't understand why this keeps happening. Maybe I don't make the knit side as tight as the left...

I've tried the no wrap method (which I love) from here, but only the purl side (the side where I pick up stitches on the purl side) looks as neat as pictured here (pic #2) .

The knit side is neat, but not identical to the purl side, it's a little looser (even though I thought I was pulling the stitches tight)

I've also tried this method, with wraps and still the wraps picked up on purl side are far neater (and tighter) than the wraps picked up on the knit side. Again, the knit side looks ok, but not identical to the purl side. My purl side looks like hers here , but my knit side looks kindof like that but looser and when stretched you can see holes, which can't be seen on the purl side

I'll post pictures of my knitting tomorrow when I can get good light

In the mean time, anyone have any ideas of what I can do?

TIA

Ok. So sorry, no pictures, BUT dang, NO REPLIES????? I know there are knitters out there.....lol

ANYWHOOOOO, I figured it out. I needed to stress the stitches less (I love the first heel) and to pull the first 3 stitches after closing the gap (even tighter than I was).

So now the sides of my heels look identical. The purl side is still a litter lighter than the knit side, but they both look the same now
I don't pick up my wraps when I'm done my heel. I didn't look at the tutes you mentioned but are you wrapping when you "decrease" (for lack of a better word lol) and again when you're "increasing"?

On the knit rows, I usually give my yarn an extra little tug, just to make sure it's tight.
the second tutorial that I posted, I don't like at all. That one has wraps and you do wrap when decreasing and increasing as well. So on the increase, you pick up two wraps and knit/purl 3 tog.

The first one (which is my fav) doesn't have wraps at all. It's very clean and neat and there is a smooth surface on both sides. Usually the inside of short row heels is just bad looking IMO (plus you have some sort of seam which I don't like). With this one, there is no discernible seam.

Yes, like you, I had to pull extra tight. I was doing this before, but not as tight. So when I adjusted my pull, it came out perfect.
I couldn't get to your fav tute from work (stupid filters! Lol!) It's really cool! Let me give it a try and I'll see what I come up with.

I know this sounds stupid, but if you're using superwash yarn, try washing your sock...you know that saying "it all comes out in the wash"? Turns out it's true...many tension issues can be remedied by a whirl in the old washing machine!
