Favorite soup

I know we've done this before but it's been a while.

What is your favorite soup? What do you like about it?

Right now mine is lobster bisque. Second to that is French onion. Third is that beer and cheese soup.

Obviously, I love cheesy, creamy soups with a lot of texture and a strong distinctive flavor.

Bread soups (Italian or Spanish styles are both good)
Tonkotsu ramen, or really any ramen, but tonkotsu is just so satisfying
Niu rou mian aka Taiwanese beef noodle soup
Cantonese/Hong Kong bbq meat and wonton noodle soups
Soupe au pistou
Bean soups
Lentil soups
Tortilla soup
Matzo ball soup and really any chicken soup with homemade noodles/dumplings

Really I enjoy most soups and it's hard to pick; it depends on what type of food I happen to be craving. I love a cold soup in the summer (chilled corn broth is especially nice). I love Asian noodle soups, as can obviously be seen, but I also love a good smooth vegetable velouté.

I also love cheesy creamy soups but my favorites are tum yum and coconut (thai).
Pozole (Colimense style)
Chilayo (a beef stew with the bones with marrow, rice, red chiles... I believe guajillo, top with lime and you are in business!)
Hearty potato cheese my dad makes
Lobster Bisque (the best being from a restaurant I went to a CHristmas party at once)
Lentil Soup my mom makes.

Mmmm.... soup......

Mix of 3s, thick, coarse, medium porosity

French Onion or Creamy Tomato from Panera. I make a broccoli rabe, sausage and white bean soup that's good too.

My all time favorite soup is homemade chicken & vegetable, with or without noodles. It makes everything better. Aside from that:

Minestrone (hold the sausage)
Three bean
Tomato bisque, tomato vegetable, creamy tomato, etc
Broccoli & Cheese
My brothers egg drop soup
Vegetable soup

Basically any and every soup aside from ones containing seafood, french onion (I just can't) and sweet & sour. It is one of my favorite meals, and I am having (tomato) soup for lunch right now.
When I hear terms like "hipster" I think, who told cliques they could leave high school??

that being said i do have a new one - menudo although the texture of the posole takes some getting used to.

Menudo is usually just tripe (and other bits). Having hominy in it is not typical.
The times I've had it in Austin they put hominy in it.

Maybe it's a Tex-Mex thing?

French onion and a tomato basil bisque I've been making lately. Shrimp or lobster or mushroom bisques too. I am a huge soup fan though...any kind...I could eat it every day.

Pumpkin, french onion (no cheese), and lobster bisque. Ukrainian cabbage soup and tom kha gai are really good too.

1-Homemade Broccoli Cheese (We put in carrots, leave bigger pieces of broccoli and cauliflower. I love me a soup with some substance)
2-Homemade Chicken/Turkey Noodle Soup (Broth is made by boiling the carcass of the chicken/turkey with onions, celery and carrots, then blend the cooked vegetables with the broth and strain it through a large strainer so it's a really thick broth. Then we make homemade noodles. YUM!)
3-My Dad's "Throw Together Soup" (He usually starts with a tomatoey base, then adds whatever is in the refrigerator that would be okay in a soup like steamed broccoli, cauliflower, beans, hamburger that's been in the fridge so long it has to be cooked or thrown out, then will start chucking in noodles or rice or lentils if he feels like it. Oh, yeah...the standard celery, carrots and potatoes are in there, too. Only problem is we can't ever replicate it!)

-Roasted broccoli (with a bit of Parmesan cheese!)
