Drive In
Do you have one near you? Do you go often?

We have a 3-screen about 10 minutes away, another about 25 minutes away, then a 1 screen about 45 minutes away.

Tuesday nights it's $6 for two movies, so we go almost every Tuesday, then usually a group outing for a Saturday once a month. Just love it!!!! Tonight we're seeing Despicable Me 2 and The Heat :D

Don't have one near me. I use to love going to the drive in. I would pop popcorn and make milky way delights.

I remember in High School there were so many cars with the windows steamed up. :laughing6:

I was visiting friends in Vancouver a few weeks ago and suggested we should go to the one near by one night. They looked so puzzled, then agreed to, but totally unexcited. I was like ok, just forget it lol

I don't understand people not liking it!

We have one but I hate going. Too many people act like they're the only one's there.

People leave their lights on, they're loud, people will stop to socialize right in front of where you're sitting. Many bring lawn chairs and put them ON TOP of their vehicles blocking everyone behind them.

Last time was so terrible that we left before the end bc we couldn't see or hear anything over everyone else. I think maybe it was filled with people banned from normal theaters or something lol.

We do not have one, and I probably wouldn't go even if we did. There are about 5 days a year here when the weather and bugs are in harmony that I would want to sit outside in a car watching a movie. The rest of the's either too cold, too hot, or too many skeeters.

We have a few within a half hour drive. I haven't been in a few years but I love going to the drive-in. Finding just the right spot, the concession stand food, trying to find the car in the dark after going to the restroom. I do miss the old metal speakers tho.

I don't have one near me now, but there is one in my small hometown. The family that owns it also runs the walk in. They have been there well over 60 years. The drive in is only open on the weekend and during the summer. My friends and I used to go all the time when we were in high school.

I've never been to one, I'm not aware of them ever being in the UK, so growing up it wasn't an option. There is one here in Adelaide but it's over the other side of the city and way too far for me to travel just to see a movie. There was one very close to where I live but it closed down before we came to live here, there's a push on at the moment to get it open again but funding's an issue as always. I think I might go for the novelty if it did reopen but couldn't see myself making a habit of it.

There is one in the next county. It's the only one I've been to and know of. It's OK, I guess, but not something I need to do again.

I like regular indoor movie theatres...especially now since they are opening the dine-in theatres.

Lotsawaves 07-17-2013 09:35 AM

I love the dine in theatres, Spider. I go to the Studio Movie Grill. I've gotten spoiled so I rarely go to a regular theatre.

For the mosquito's, we got a roll of screen from the dollar store and some big magnets and just stick those to the car. Usually by the second movie, they have moved on though.

The drive in police (just kids in orange vests) are pretty good at the one we go to most often about getting lights shut off quickly, or making sure the bigger vehicles stay to the back.

I've never been to one. There are no drive ins in NYC and there haven't been since I was a child. There aren't many people in my social circle that have cars or have ever had cars. The nearest one is over two hours away in the suburbs. The city does have numerous places where you can see movies outdoors in the summer but they aren't the latest releases.

Before yesterday I didn't know those existed. Ours have 1 person to take your money, then 2 kids working concession. I've never seen anyone who remotely looked like management. Judging by the horror that is their bathrooms, I don't think anyone knows who to complain to about anything.

The New Black 07-17-2013 05:25 PM

I haven't been to one in ages. I don't know of any near me now and I'd probably be afraid to go to a drivein nowadays. Crime is too high.
