sequins by day?
Do/would you wear sequined garments during the day, incl. at work (ie, 9-5 office job)? Or is it too flashy a look for you? Do you think it's tacky to wear sequins or pailettes at work?

I have a couple of sequined tops. I will wear them out during the day for lunch, shopping, etc. I wouldn't feel comfortable wearing them to work.

I might wear sequins or slightly sequined clothes during the day depending on the style and environment. I would maybe wear something slightly sequined if I had a very casual work environment(shorts/flip flops).

I find sequins to be sorta tacky but in a funky stylish way and it would not be in my business casual style of clothing.

Too flashy for me to wear, personally. (Sequins are too much for me even at night.) But other people can pull off lightly sequined things during the day.

Yes (generally under a jacket):

LOL. I have the third top posted. I only wear it to clubs or bars.

Lotsawaves 08-14-2013 03:18 PM

I have the 3rd one also. LOL! I have it in light blue and gold.

Dedachan 08-14-2013 03:24 PM

I have the blue one with the yellow print. :tongue1:

On a serious note, I tried a sequin dress at a store once. It got tangled on my curls. No thanks.

I think if the shirt is all sequins, it's not work appropriate, but maybe it could work if it's just a few ornamenting details.

i have a couple of things with matte sequins that match the fabric and i would wear those to work.

i wore a navy blue tank with mirrored paillettes with navy pants and a white and navy sweater a couple of weeks ago - this one:

I have a pair of black sequined Converse sneakers. I wear them to work.

TRBL 08-14-2013 04:28 PM

heh, I do think it is appropriate club wear, just not for work - even under a jacket. :)

and I have several tanks with sequin detailing that I wear to work.

spiderlashes5000 08-14-2013 05:06 PM

What about pants such as these?

or these?

Lotsawaves 08-14-2013 05:17 PM

Maybe if you work in a casual work place, but I really don't like either of those pants.

Yes. I've worn a sequined top to work. It's a very casual environment. My tattoos can show and I can keep the hoop in my nose and have messy, natty locs. But the pay sucks and the workload is high... ;-)

discolemonade 08-14-2013 06:15 PM

Are those track pants with heels? :goofy:

Fifi.G 08-14-2013 06:41 PM

Like Rou, I have some shirts with matte sequins that I would wear in office. One is a pastel pink tank with matte sequins in a V, just at the top, and it has a thin long sleeved button up shirt paired with it. I also have some t shirts that might have one sequin star, etc... on them. I wear those with jeans at work on the weekend and nights. It's all casual wear then anyway.

When it comes to my heavily sparkly items... I save those for evenings or nights out.

spiderlashes5000 08-14-2013 10:13 PM

Don't get it twisted: I'm not thinking of wearing those pants!

Someone at work loves sequins an even has pants similar to above -- not drawstring but like dressy slacks w/ a sequined tuxedo stripe down each leg. It seemed so cabaret...

I have worn tops that had some sequins as accents but I wouldn't wear any of the tops shown (but I like all of those tanks!).
I teach at a university where I can - but don't - wear jeans or shorts or almost whatever I want. I have colleagues that might wear the things posted.
